In late June this was the message:
"The fear is that Covid-19 could return as a second wave in the fall (with peaks in November and December) that coincides with influenza season."
Today the Big 10 is considering starting the season in mid-October. Really? I thought it was all about the kids.
Nope, once they saw how idiotic their decision was Kevin Warren and his cohorts began desperately looking for a way to reverse their decision, kids be damned. If you have a son who wants to play college football would you consider this conference? Really?
Disgusting.

"It put selfishness and arrogance ahead of it's primary purpose"
The only thing the Big 10 underestimated was the stupidity of people in the south!

They’re not worried about kids. They’re worried about an election in November. The political hand they played backfired and now they’re crawfishing to save face. It’s pretty damn obvious

William you’re one of my favorite posters. Don’t do this to me

Umm... if they really thought it was about safety then why start in October?

Yeah they cost themselves hundreds of millions of dollars because they were worried about an election.
That makes sense!
Definitely not another nutcase conspiracy that FoxNews and the walking spray tan jammed down your throat

Their own commissioner said they were going to try to influence the election back in June
It’s not his money either.

You’re right, it doesn’t make sense. That’s the rub, and it’s blowing up in their dumbass faces

So it was all about the election?
Then why did Japan postpone the summer Olympics?
Are we still going with the narrative that “it’s not any worse than the flu” even after the Orange Fat arse admitted on tape that it was worse than the flu?

Given that our understanding of this epidemic literally changes by the week, the fact that you chose two very specific snapshots and cling to them as though they are concrete illustrations of the virus indicates astounding cognitive dissonance.
I don't even fully buy the conspiracy theories surrounding the Big 10's previous decision. As our understanding of the state of affairs progresses, parties should update their policies accordingly and NOT hold fast to conclusions steeped in political ideologies. If the Big 10 has an improved outlook on the virus, they absolutely should reconsider their decision, given its extreme downsides.

You're right - in your own dumb way.
How arrogant of you to project your fears on those kids, their parents, and everyone that wants to watch.
But don't worry about the brain injuries. Or the permanent joint damage. Or any of the rest of the risks.
Make your statement. Make sure the kids that want to play don't get to. Certainly, make sure you don't have to not go to that stadium and not get sick in that crowd.
It's like the ultimate "Get off your lawn" statement - except nobody ever asked to play in your yard. More like "Get off this lawn that's not even mine !!!".

It's too late Dickey T, you can't wish the SEC season away. Your corndogs 6 and 4 record will be official.

quote:Football is an inherently dangerous career choice. It is not in any way safe. CTE, paralysis, broken bones, even death all happen as a result of actually playing football, and are much more likely to happen than death via COVID. The Big 10 doesn't and didn't care about the students health or safety, or they wouldn't sponsor contact sports.
How selfish and arrogant of them to worry about the safety of kids!
Life is dangerous bro. Car wrecks kill people everyday, but we don't ban cars. Cigarettes kill people without any benefit at all and they are allowed. Stopping football, wearing masks, social distancing, the whole nine yards has nothing to do with COVID.

You don't give a shite about the well being and safety of the kids playing. For just one example, you mocked Tua Tagovailoa's injuries. You're just a hypocrite.
