It’s ridiculous we don’t use the same standard as other programs and claim 1908, 1935, 1936, and 1962.

Hah...yes, there was a string of 5 division titles in 8 years spanning big 12 and SEC...but O'fer in anything more meaningful. Haven't won a conference in approaching a century...but, still trying.

Yep.

1908, 1935, 1936, 1958, 1962, 2003, 2007, 2019.

That would place us tied for 8th all time with OSU and......Harvard

Oh. Respect.

Mizzou is heading in the right direction back to the top. Pretty good coach in Drink. Plus its gonna be nice to see Mizzou challenge Florida and UGA yearly. Since Tennessee gave up that position.

Probably a shite stat to others here, but Mizzou has 12 "champion" athletes or teams since joining the SEC 9 years ago...only 26 in the preceding 85 years. SEC has certainly drawn athletes even if it hasn't brought major championships. For Mizzou, that is moving in the right direction.

Various selectors have chosen Alabama in 32 different years but Bama only claims 18. IMO, it should be 17, ignoring the bogus 1941 claim. Since the AP started in 36 and UP/Coaches in 50, those are the only ones most claim. Bama does not claim a 1945 10-0 Rose Bowl winning team, nor a 1966 11-0 season even though the only undefeated/untied team in the country, nor several one-loss teams that finished 2 or 3 in the AP/UP.

Alabama has 13 wire service claims and 4 pre-wire service claims. In 3 (1925, 30, 34) of those claims Bama finished 10-0, winning the Rose Bowl; in the other year (1926) they finished 9-0-1 tying a 10-0 Pop Warner Stanford team in the Rose Bowl with whom they split the NC.

Here is a blurb from a contemporary source about the 1927 game:
quote:

United Press called the 1927 Rose Bowl "the football championship of America", and the game was considered the most exciting in the series up to that time. The crowd of 57,417 set an attendance record.

I wish we claimed titles the way some people think we do
