How much should SOS play in national championship picture?

I was just reading on CBS sports the SOS schedule for this season's SEC teams. It goes without saying that Georgia and Alabama are the two teams most feel have the best shot at winning a national championship this season.
Georgia has the second toughest SOS in the SEC and Alabama is dead last. How much should SOS play when it comes down to the end of the season?
Most believe Georgia and Alabama will meet in the SEC championship game. If Alabama edges out Georgia, should they be given a playoff spot over a Georgia team that played a much tougher schedule?
We often criticize other teams for playing in weak conferences and playing weak schedules, so how do you justify a team with the weakest conference SOS playing over a team that had a much tougher schedule?
I'm neither a Georgia or Alabama fan, but I am a fan that believes one should be rewarded for playing a much tougher schedule. If not, LSU needs to quit playing teams like Texas, Wisconsin and Miami as non-conference opponents.
Don't give me the argument that schedules were made years in advance because schools drop and add opponents all the time.

You’re taking about strength of schedule one game in as if it’s written in stone.

And when Notre Dame beats UGA a lot of SEC schedules are going to take a hit.

A charmin soft schedule did not effect Oklahoma last year despite them struggling against those teams mightily

The SOS is already a component of consideration with the CFP Committee.
From the NCAA website.....

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
The committee has been instructed to place an emphasis on strength of schedule, head-to-head matchups and conference championships.
Strength of schedule has become a particular buzz phrase this offseason, with coaches and conferences already touting the virtues of their lineup.
Bartoo said it's misguided to emphasize strength of schedule because calculating it accurately is not possible, no matter how it's done.
"A lot of people want to believe that strength of schedule is a valid stat for separating teams," he said. "It's not the best one or the worst one. They are all about a coin flip."
There are not enough data points in college football to make a good sample size to study strength of schedule because teams play so few games and the best teams rarely play each other", Bartoo said.

I don't buy that Georgia has the 2nd toughest SOS in the SEC. They play in the East, so they don't have to play Bama and LSU like the West does. They also can't play themselves, so they have the easiest SEC east schedule.

So Tiger Rant Topics don't do well over here.

If you win the SEC, you go to playoffs...assuming < 2 Ls, of course.

Since Bama plays L8U this year you come back and tell us again how Bama has no right being in the NC discussion after the game. Ok?

I believe Georgia's SOS within the SEC is ranked #3. South Carolina and A&M were ranked tougher.

And when Clemson loses to A&M, I guess a lot of ACC schedules are going to take a hit.
Oh, wait....the ACC schedules have ALREADY taken a hit---at rock bottom!

What?
No they don't.
A&M, Auburn and South Carolina all have tougher schedules than Georgia.

That's fine but if LSU wants to make the playoff they should really quit playing Alabama (literally quit, not just figuratively quit like they usually do).
