3 factors since joining:
1. Mizzou and A&M have absolutely owned Arkansas.

2. Arkansas recruiting has (minus 1-2 years) since 2007 recruited in the high teens-30th ranked class. So no real change in recruiting.

3. Arkansas has also been horrific in their non-con which has deflated them before conference play. San Jose st, western Kentucky, Colorado St, NORTH TEXAS, Toledo, Rutgers x2, Louisiana Monroe!

I was not aware of Sam's history with being an Arkansas fan growing up.And this is basically his dream job.

Sam knows SEC talent and was having very good coaches wanting to work for him.He is a better gamble than another high school coach who had a nest on the ground job.

We'll see,Sam's a damn good man.

We need to build up high school football in Little Rock Metro and they just built a new high school. Do that and you will get more high level division one prospects from the area.

Recruit Texas harder. Arkansas has a large alumni base in Dallas. Take advantage of it, no excuse why Arkansas can't compete with Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma for recruits. They did in the past and they can do it again.

Since A&M joined the SEC in 2012:

SEC Championships (not including track and field and cross-country)

Texas A&M - 20
Arkansas - 2

The media was in complete denial that Highland lost to a team from Arkansas.

Two thoughts here. That was one of the weaker HP teams in memory. That squad got smoked in the second round of the state playoffs that year.

Secondly, Highland Park is definitely not a proxy for Texas athletic talent. Its squads are bunch of mildly athletic kids who are drilled endlessly starting in 5th grade. This allows them to overachieve in their good years against better raw athletic talent. If Pulaski had beat Duncanville or Houston North Shore or Allen than I would give you your point.

The huge drought of in state talent has had a lot more to do with it than A&M. We need 5-10 in-state kids per year with legit SEC talent and we’ve been getting more like 2 lately. Central Arkansas football disappeared but it’s starting to show some signs of life again. It’s hard to be really competitive in the SEC without some real homegrown talent.

I remember when Shiloah Christian played some big time team from Dallas (I think) and it was super hyped in Arkansas for being a high school game. Shiloh got absolutely massacred. It was genuinely embarrassing that the game even got scheduled.

If you exclude ours, why can’t we exclude yours?

No matter what happens with Pittman I think you will get some talent with that staff. Might be a situation where he builds a nice foundation and the next guy is the one who comes in and really wins

The point was that Arkansas doesn't have a bunch of weak high school football teams. Pulaski isn't even the best in the state.

Shiloh Christian had no business playing that game. They weren't even close to the best team in the state. Bentonville should have played instead, it would have been a watchable game.

How much has aTm joining hurt Arkansas?

Minimal to zero.

Hiring the wrong coach has been the problem. Hopefully, Pittman will get the program back on the right track. Chad was a awful.

Joining in the chorus of it pretty much being bad leadership which has resulted in soft teams with a quit spirit, players out of position at the snap, terrible halftime adjustments, etc. Weakness in high school football hurts too.

Now I do also think that we have had an undue amount just bad in-game luck. But not a major factor overall.

A&M joining? Maybe hurt recruiting a smidge from one less home game every other season, but nothing major.

Arkansas not playing any Texas teams in the 90s hurt recruiting in Texas.

yep, Arky used to own the DFW recruiting area.

It aint about A&M it is about lack of exposure the SWC gave them in TX, the Hogs used to be relevent in TX and were on the news daily and kids knew who they were, now not so much.

Arky really needs to add as many OOC games as they can in the DFW metro area, SMU and NT should be played every single year.

Hogfans, hire me as your AD, I will fix this shite for you.

I do think that Arkansas needs to have recruiting success in the Metroplex for them to be successful. This is why our game is at Jerryworld. The great Arkansas coaches know this. I honestly don’t them Arkansas leaving the SWC 4 years early hurt them that much. But I can’t help but wonder if they would have stayed to the end what a XII with Arkansas instead of (say...Baylor) would have looked like. Or would A&M have gone to the SEC alone at that time instead???

The rise of Bobby Stoops and Mack Brown probably hurt both A&M and Arkansas equally.

Both LSU and A&M recruit well in the others’ state when they are good. It’s just always been that way.

No person offered by KY and OSU is going to KY in football. You get them in basketball and maybe other sports but not football.
