As a Bama grad and a Saints fan, I like the way things turned out just fine.

Bama would have had Mike Leach and then Mike Gundy to continue their trend of Mikes.

It actually does present an interesting question. Assuming the deal with Rich Rodriguez had still fallen through like it did, and Bama couldn't turn to Nick Saban because he wasn't looking around.... Who do they hire?

Do they just go ahead and promote Joe Kines to full time HC?

Because that's when the Saban Effect started.

I hope so. Might as well have had some laughs before we all pulled the trigger.

What's really funny..or sad depending on your perspective...is that Saban blamed the team doc for mis-reading DB's medicals. A bad opinion from him & the Fins would not offer him. And anyone who knows Saban, especially there when he had 10000% control, no one BUT Saban makes those kinds of decisions.

How much better would the football world be if Drew Brees had signed with the Dolphins?
How dominate and how many SEC/National Championships would LSU have by now if Saban had stayed at LSU and not signed with the Dolphins?
