Tommy Tooberville too.
No he wouldn't. It was never the same after jetgate, and he was too loyal to his friends staying employed.
I get the overall premise of your thread though, and the climate of college football would have been significantly different without Saban at Bama.

Maybe Lsu wouldn't be a middle of the road SEC team.

But the Saints wouldn't have a Super Bowl.

Of course the Saints would've never won a Super Bowl but I had gotten used to that. On the other hand, LSU would've had at least one more national title and maybe more than that. I would take that trade off.

I just wish your dad had pulled out

Florida would own the conference like they did in the 90s.

Another plus.

Blasphemy.
Plus it was really cool as a lifelong fan, to be bartending on Bourbon Street that night.

You're right. He actually won a lot of football games in the immediate aftermath of Jetgate. From 2004-2007, you guys were a combined 42-9.

I was referring to his relationship with the school.
Why did you leave off 2008?
Why did you leave off 2008?

I wouldn't. Not in a million years.

So you'd rather have one Saints title as opposed to possibly three or four more for LSU?

Agreed. Although if I were to redo it to my satisfaction Saban would never have left LSU but still opened up his offensive philosophies, the levees would have held, Payton, Brees et al would have still come to N.O, Gregg Williams would have kept his mouth shut and there would have been NC and Super Bowl wins galore.
That didn't happen so I will take the additional 2007 National Championship along with the 2009 Super Bowl and look forward to the next ones.

No. This is not the play Medea where she killed her sons not because she didn't love them but she did it because she hated Jason (their father) more. I like, went to, and root for LSU hard. My Saints fandom has been there longer and I won't unring that Super Bowl bell for almost anything.

It's crazy to me how anyone can care that much about a professional sports team

Because that's when the Saban Effect started.
