I think that if someone really good shows interest in UT this year, they will go ahead and fire him. The Dooley hire was a lot like the Shula hire, in that you needed someone to stop the bleeding and stabilize the program after a good bit of tumult.

It sucks, but sometimes the mediocrity is written on the wall. It's not like anyone thinks that he has the coaching chops to bring in 9-10 win seasons every year.

Well then everyone better get ready to have mediocre players that can only play for one coach.

Why would Auburn can Chizik? He just won a national championship two years ago.

I have no idea where he stands with those in power at Auburn.

Again, Arkansas is a no brainer. Kentucky is, too if they're going to take football seriously. Tennessee probably has to go unbeaten outside Georgia and Alabama for Dooley to stay.

Not us. Chizik has a 7.5 mil buyout.

This won't be a problem. We probably won't pay it 2 years after a national title, but if this thing plummets this year (3-9, 4-8), things could get dicey.

But a $7.5M buyout won't be the reason we wouldn't start looking for a new coach.

It wouldn't have crossed my mind preseason to say this but New Mexico State and Alabama A&M are about the only sure things on the schedule.

What will it take for Dooley to lose his job? He could easily go 8-4, would that save him for one more year?

I would think so. It's significant improvement in spite of the let down that was created by unrealistic expectations.

I also predict that at some point this season, Les Miles once agan convinces me that he's an outstanding coach and you can't discount what he's done...and then follows that up with an inexplicable display of lunacy, leaving me as confused as ever.

He just thinks on a higher plane than the rest of us
