Just curious.
Alabama played 13 true freshmen, including 5 starters (3 on defense).

Looks like 15 for OM if I counted correctly.

IDK how many LSU played but 9 freshman were accounted for in the stat column. Which makes sense because LSU shut it down after the first possession in the second half. So more than 9 freshman likely played, they just didn't record stats. But Stingley and York are freshman starters and Davis-Price, Emery, Ika and Evans are major contributors as freshman.

Conference road game, so we could only take 70 players.
We brought 11 true freshmen.
9 got significant playing time.

Not directly replying to your post but I looked at Georgia Southern a few days ago trying to figure out why LSU fans are so excited about beating them and why some of them think LSU is ready for the 85 Bears....
Georgia Southern had RS freshmen at QB, RB, WR, and a lot of RS freshmen and sophs on both sides of the ball. Also started about 4 transfers if I remember correctly. The LSU hype machine is on full tilt after beating Georgia Southern.

Let me guess your team played the most and you are really proud of that because your team jumped out to a big lead

No need to. I have already said I am concerned about our lack of a strong running game. We should have been able to push them around but did not. This is a problem for us going forward.

Historically LSU was never as efficient as they were on offense against any team. Typically it's not the talent on the other side of the ball beating LSU offense it was LSU offense beating itself (penalties, pre-snap disorganization, missed blocking assignments, etc.). And due to a mistake prone offense the coaches always seemed to scale back the play calling by either running the ball or going max protect on pass plays. It works fine against lesser talent but not so much against equal and better talented defenses.
The LSU offense did what was expected and more Saturday night and they did it with precision and very few mistakes. Burrow is reading the field, audibling and checking down through his progressions really well. LSU fans have never seen that kind of offensive efficiency since the Tommy Hodson days in the late 80's.

Looks like we had 7 True Freshmen Play
Treylon Burks, WR, Warren — He caught three passes for 52 yards and also returned a couple of punts for 16 yards with a long of 11. He had a 20-yard reception for his longest catch of the day.
Trey Knox, WR, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman — Caught one pass for 38 yards from Nick Starkel. Knox has missed some practice time, but returned on Wednesday and should have a bigger role going forward.
Greg Brooks Jr., DB, Harvey (La.) West Jefferson — Finished the game with a quarterback hurry. Enrolled at Arkansas at midterm and has impressed.
Ricky Stromberg, OG, Tulsa (Okla.) Union — Filled in for left guard Austin Capps when he went down with an injury.
Mataio Soli, DE, Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County
Shared action at end with senior Gabe Richardson and also helped additionally when Dorian Gerald didn’t play following halftime. Soli finished the game with one tackle.
Zach Williams, DE, Joe T. Robinson — Saw action at end, but didn’t record any stats. Like Soli, son of former talented Razorback player.
Marcus Miller, DT, Warren — Played briefly in the second half, but didn’t have any stats.
I do know we started the game with 11 new starters on offense

This is just a lot of misinformation.
Southern will win a lot of games this year, went 10-3 and won the Sun Belt last year. QB Shai Werts (not a freshman) got knocked out the game early but should be back very soon. Once that happened it was over early for their offense. Yes Tomlin the QB who replaced Werts is just a redshirt freshman, but he also beat out a redshirt sophomore in Jaalon Frazier for that #2 spot.
GaSo returned 14 starters (7 on offense, 7 on defense) so not sure why you're acting like we only played their 2nd team and a bunch of young guys. They have 2 CB who are really good, made the Thorpe watch list and were 1st team all conference.
For reference, I'm a big fan of both schools as I went to both, so I know GaSo football very well. I will say GaSo gave up fairly early on in this one defensively, lots of miscommunication and lack of effort from the secondary once things got out of hand. It certainly wasn't LSU vs. a bunch of freshman though...
Here were GaSo starters for the game:
QB: rJR. Werts
RB: rSO. LaRoche
RB: rSO. Wright
WR: rSR. Ransom
WR: SR. Michaud
TE: rJR. Brown
LT: rSO. Leeds
LG: rJR. Dowdell
C: rSR. Cooper
RG: 6th year SR. Edwards
RT: rJR. Wilson
So on offense, literally no one younger than 3 years into college started.
DE: JR. Johnson III
NT: SR. Phillips
DE: rJR. Vliem
OLB: rSR. Bowdry
ILB: rJR. Byrd
ILB: rSO. Ellis
OLB: rJR. Wade Jr.
CB: SR. Brinson
CB: SR. Vildor
S: rJR. Baker Jr.
S: rSO. Duncan Jr.
Again, not a single starter less than 3 years into college.
It's a veteran team who won their conference last year and we dismantled them

Do you really need to defend and build up Ga Southern?
Posted on 9/3/19 at 9:53 am to Farmer1906
Correcting someone's misinformation is not "building up" anything. GaSo literally didn't start a single player who was less than junior or redshirt sophomore. They returned 14 starters from a 10-3 conference champ team. It was a dominating win over a good mid-major, nothing more nothing less. They arent some garbage bottom of the barrel Sun Belt program who was playing a "bunch of young guys"

I went back and pulled up the same spreadsheet from Georgia Southern... something called "our lads". You are correct. For some reason I was only able to view the 2nd team.
My bad. 85 Bears look out!! Pulling for LSU vs texass in any case. Figure LSU wins by about 10.

Why not? You still try to make A&M out to be a real team.

don't know where you are coming up with this crap. yes, we are excited because we did what we were supposed to do against Ga. So. this is rare. we had an offense that didn't sputter against a lesser opponent.
we don't think we're world beaters yet BUT we are excited about the potential.
