You are fricking dumb if you think this is a good thread. Like I stated earlier, none of us are members of the team so, in theory, none of us can say it. Until otherwise notified, 1st Amendment stands.

Believe me I don't worship any athlete

I don't really understand why anybody cares about this. Fans, whether they graduated from the school or not, are what keep the programs running. If somebody cares enough about a particular school to watch their games, spend money on merchandise, etc. then they have every right to say "we". What's wrong with including yourself within a community of fans of the same team?

When athletes walk out there with the name "The University of Alabama" they represent me and the entire University. I don't see why it bothers people so much

Interesting. And I respect your opinion. I just never have--nor will I ever--think of my university (to include fellow Ags who happen to be athletes) as an organization; I think of 'em as family. We.
It's different for Ags. This is why we proudly wear the Aggie ring for the rest of our lives. If you're an Ag, you are part of the "we". We could get rid of athletics tomorrow and I would still use we because athletics are not what make A&M. Our most cherished traditions have nothing to do with sports. This is the "Aggie Network".
I'm not cheering a sports team, I'm supporting fellow Ags in their endeavors.

We are the 12th Man. We get to say We

Alumni can say we
As long as they get a donation every year from me, it is "we".
When people sarcastically ask, "what position do you play?" I tell them real quick. I play both ways. I play checkbook and left hip pocket.

I'm an alumnus and donor. Of course I say "we."

How many people actually care, outside of trying to troll?
Posted on 5/23/13 at 7:58 am to LSULyle00690
I say "we" because I am a part of Auburn. I am an alum so I can say "we".

Usually I say we when talking to LSU fans and LSU when talking to other people. But I don't think about it bc it's so unimportant.
Y'all think to much into it. Nobody thinks they're a member of the team. Y'all are just miserable and like to judge people on trivial shite.
And I don't feel the new to justify my answer with my fan affiliation. I was a fan of lsu before I went to school.

Horrible example, each part of a company is vital to its success. No, they aren't gonna ask members of accounting to help with marketing but if marketing department fricks up, ThE WHOLE company suffers.
The fanbase is vital to the success of a college football program; I bet that if all the non-graduate fans of a program stopped going to games, stopped buying apparel and quit watching on television, the athletic department would come up with some sort of incentive program to get those fans to start using 'we' again.
The premise of this whole thread and the argument at its core are flawed and fricking stupid.

Thank you, A LOT of fans care about the school more than the athletes does. There's a reason some have 3-4 choices up until signing day. They just want somewhere to play football, get to the league. Make a mockery of the school's education, don't care if they break rules, etc.
Good point on the part about keeping the program running. There's a reason some school's endowments are LOW but they have good booster clubs for their athletic depts. LSU TAF actually GIVE money back to the university.

I think after all the millions the fans put into collegiate sports they can call them whatever the frick they want.

I have been a state fan for 29 years. A state fan! And I have a degree from there. And I contribute. I say we probably every day.
