Was that team good besides blowing UGA out? They were outscored in SEC play, which is evidence they werent good.

My TV consumption consisted of purely cartoons at that age. Any game I saw was LSU and it was in the actual stadium. I didn’t start watching sports on TV till probably late 08 early 09. They were 10-4 (6-2) that year so not exactly the level of dominance I’m talking about anyway.

Winning 10 and finishing #12 is good though. That's what you said.

I was in a Kroger smack in the middle of the state of Tennessee and the place was loaded with Alabama gear and not a single shed of Vol gear in sight. PS, feel free to post your visions of how far Vols have fallen

This year shall be the year to beat Vandy!

Sure it’s good, but I was more referring to the thread topic which is falling off from the level where they were competing for championships. Either way, I wasn’t watching football at that age, so my point still stands.

Cheap hats and crap like that at gas stations really are a decent barometer for how a team is doing.

Back in the 90 used to piss me off seeing more Tennessee crap in gas stations off of I 75 in north Georgia than you did Georgia. Now it's minimal if any Tennessee stuff.

This was the basic point. I would add Walmart to that list as if your gear is in your store you own that territory. A lifetime ago Sewanee and Vanderbilt owned the middle of Tennessee. A generation ago the Vols owned it. Now I see Tide and Blue Raider gear more than Vol gear in that part of the state. Never thought that would happen in my lifetime.

They were in the SECCG and lost by a TD.

At least recently it hasn’t been that difficult to get into the SECCG from the east. The last couple of years UGA has had a monopoly on it but it certainly has been way more open than the path to the SECCG from the west. I was referring to NCGs anyway, or at least competing for a NCG.

You know I am fond of you Prof and in all seriousness the SEC is less fun when the Vols and Hogs are in the crapper.

I wonder if he realizes how far down the stupid tunnel he's gone that you're defending us.

I like you too Cheese but the point remains: we're the most popular irrelevant team in the SEC. Our fans can't quit us but neither can our enemies and frenemies.

Question for Tenn fans, "You've lost to Bama 12 straight times, meaning middle school students in Tennessee have never seen their favorite team beat their biggest rival. Will you lose 6 more meaning an entire wave of children will graduate HS NEVER having seen a win over your biggest rival?"

What odds would you take?

Am I being stupid to say Tenn wasn’t competing for a national championship in 07? Or for saying that I wasn’t watching SEC football (non LSU) on TV when I was that age?

Which one is it? I’m lost in your logic.

1) Tennessee’s economy is much more prosperous and vibrant with infinite more opportunities than Alabama’s lackluster economy. Like a fourth of all people from Alabama end up relocating to Tennessee cause there are not many good high paying jobs in Alabama. Alabama/Auburn grads gotta eat too.

2) You do not see more MTSU Blue Raider shite in Tennessee than you do Tennessee stuff. Quit lying. Terrible troll

I am in Nashville right now and the Kroger I was in had 2 kiosks of nothing but Alabama stuff. The first was t shirts and caps type stuff and the second kiosk was Tide geegaws and toys. This was not a troll but and observation and a sad one at that. As for MTSU stuff, I do see it a lot more in the past 5 years around here and I have definitely seen a rise in Dore gear but still not common in the area.
