Because Arkansas is a limited program without a positive national reputation or an even half-decent recruiting base.

He was doing alright until he lost Pittman/Chaney and then our line sucked terribly. Couldn't block anyone.
Even Enos couldn't save us. It's crazy we had coordinators that are now the OC of Georgia/Alabama, but we couldn't win more than 7-8 games a year under Bert.

Arkansas should have gone to the big 12. they simply won't recruit well in the SEC.

Him changing the philosophy after an idiot crashed his bike w/ blonde bimbo is really what happened. It's not all his fault. He (Bert) did get very lax while he was here and it created a cancer in the locker room with his recruits after he was terminated. Jeff long is a Moron though and he's the idiot that hired Bobby, John L and Bert.

I would buy that but one of the few programs out there Bert had success against was LSU.
Its a combination of bad recruiting and Bert having a philosophy of taking it easy in the off season.
He believed you took it easy before the season started so that your players were fresh and would peak at the end of the year. Which was fine at Wisconsin but in the SEC not so much.

If the coach is fat and retarded, his players will be too. Hate that I worded it like that, but it's a really good way to put it. Our second halves were so frustrating. Have a good first half and then negative production in the second half. Conditioning and motivation was non existent with stupid injuries every year.
