But whiskeys quicker
Suicide is slow for Tenner
Butt chug
Drown your sorrows
Before another bullshite loss

With Pruitt we get out of this.
Week 1 they fricked up, they were overlooking a team they should have steamrolled, shite happens whatever. Week 2 was a different team, Guarantano is just fricking trash. Chaney made some odd calls, the final 4th and 1 play going on an end around, that was run a few plays before and would have been blown up for a 5 yard loss if not for a blatant hold.
Regardless though Pruitt is recruiting who he needs to and the Freshman have been the only bright light so far this season, besides Chandler.
If he can somehow keep the recruiting class he has going together we should be decent going forward
Parts of this are correct. Unfortunately we absolutely have to remain saddled to Pruitt. If we fire him, we might as well shut down the program; b/c there's not a coach in the world that will want to come(this is the part where everyone in this thread quotes this sentence and posts a picture of Fulmer). If we fire Pruitt, that's 4 coaches in 11 seasons. That turnover rate is part of the reason our coaching searches have been such a clusterfrick. The other part has been the horrible AD's that have been in charge. Not to mention the buyouts we are currently paying(and would be paying if we canned Pruitt and staff).
Pruitt is a first time HC and has made a ton of bad mistakes as a first time HC. We are now in a position where we just have to sit back and watch it get worse before it gets better. Like the previous TN poster said, outside of Jennings, the freshmen have been the lone bright spot. We have to give Pruitt 4-5 years(total) to bring in more of those guys and change the culture. I'm not sold on Chaney at all, but the rest of the staff should be more than capable to coach them up and more importantly bring in better talent(which will be put to the test when recruits see the opposing team's colors filling 60% of Neyland). The JR's and SR's are Lyle's life champs and all they've known at TN is losing. We need more young goons and for those losers to exit the program, which will facilitate the culture change. 2-3 years from now we can look at the program and see what Pruitt has brewing(what the roster looks like, what the on field product looks like, etc.) and look at keeping him or moving on. Until then, I'm afraid it's going to get worse before there's any resemblance of it getting better.

I was in Tennessee this weekend and it almost feels like the region has quit on Tennessee football. No car flags, no outside decorations and a very small amount of people in orange shirts walking around on gameday (granted, it wasn’t like I was in Knoxville).
This may be the dumbest piece of anecdotal evidence ever recorded. Try harder. Were you in Nashville?

Bama had the same issues with boosters meddling in the program and having too much power before Saban came along and put a stop to it.

There is a culture problem up there. They killed women's basketball too.
You fix a culture problem by changing the culture, which is the hardest and slowest thing you can do in an organization.
They have to get the Presidential search right. There are a lot of problems at UT outside athletics, but a president that will stand up to Fulmer is needed. The state legislature is pissed at what has been going on at UT (the whole pronoun nonsense that plagues universities stated at UT with the ze, zir, zim stuff) and is looking for a political hire. Fulmer and his cronies want a patsy.
In short, they need what Mississippi State did with Robert Foglesong. He completely changed the culture in two years. Got rid of the problems, got fired, but the problems were gone and MSU took off - they were able to make the right hires across the board.
The answer is that UT needs its own version of this great man.

LSU hired Nick Saban to get them out of the 90s shite show. They should try something like that.
Big difference here is that at the time Saban was a unknown. Doesn't always work out that way!

Tennessee should not be dropping games to Georgia State, but as long as Clemson, Bama and UGA are recruiting the same area at that rate The Vols can't expect to be much better than a 7-5 8-4 type team.
This this and more of this. Add in Ohio St because Tennessee recruits Ohio hard also it’s close to them.
The facts are that the state of Tennessee has poor local football players. They have 4-5 4 star or better players every year. You can’t win 9-10 games consistently in the SEC with that talent. So they had to go outside their state to recruit a majority of their team and by doing that they have to compete with the local schools. You just won’t have long term success like that.
Tuberville always said you need to make a circle 180 miles around your campus and own that area in recruiting. If you don’t you’ll have a tough time.

It starts at the top
Get Fulmer away from the program
As good as Pruitt's defenses have been focus on that side first, get talent level up along line of scrimmage, may take some juco signees to do that.
Their QB play has been terrible for awhile now and they have no running backs to complement him.
It's so hard to project assistants to determine if they are head coach material especially under Saban because Saban controls so much of that program.
Hire a proven head coach. You won't get that until you get a competent AD in place.

For Bama to bring Saban in and have a chance to rebuild the dynasty, Mal Moore who was the AD at the time had to first put the old guard boosters in their place with the help of the best President Bama has had in my lifetime.
UT however faces problems beyond just culture. They have to worry about recruiting challenges Bama, USC and other faded power teams didn’t, that is they have no recruiting base instate. Because of that they have far more in common with Nebraska than Bama IMO.
If ATL is dominated by a strong UGA program and Clemson holds SC kids home, unless UT can either start to eat up NC kids or just go full Ole Miss and buy players nationally I don’t see their path back to national prominence.
8-9 wins is certainly doable with them becoming a worthy foil to Kirby at UGA every few years, but to make it back to top 10 program status would require a Pete Carroll/Urban Meyer type hire and the culture changes I mentioned earlier IMO.

1.New president
2.New AD
3.Run off the fat cat boosters who want to call the shots
4. Probably going to have to stay the course with Pruitt and hope it turns around in three years. If it don’t a young coach with head coaching experience. Dude at UAB or someone like that.

Pruitt has the personality of cornbread and the IQ of asparagus. Tenner could not have made a worse hire.........again.

The answer is simple.
Urban Meyer.
Go get him
Urban Meyer.
Go get him

No chance UT gets Urban.
Fulmer knows Meyer is far & away a bigger legend than he was so jealousy would get in the way.
Once again, I love that he is the AD for UT.
