Currently 16-6 (4-5) on a 2 game win streak. Remaining schedule

vs Georgia
Vs Bama
@Missouri
@Vandy
vs Ole Miss
@A&M
vs South Carolina
vs Tennessee
@LSU

Very favorable setup I could see us winning 7 of 9 finishing 23-8 (11-7) which could get us in the tournament.

I can see between 4 and 5 wins. I'm not seeing enough to get you into the tournament though. Maybe if you made a deep run in the SEC tourney but things would have to fall just right. With your OOC schedule you are going to need 24 wins to be considered imo.

I think State is the wild card in the SEC.

vs Georgia (W)
Vs Bama (W)
@Missouri (L)
@Vandy (L)
vs Ole Miss (W)
@A&M (L)
vs South Carolina (W)

20-9 (8-8) going into the last 2 games and squarely on the bubble IMHO.

vs Tennessee
@LSU

The problem is even that and their RPI is still 60-65. If they went 22-9 (10-8) their RPI would be around 50-55. That would put them right on the bubble going into the SECT. So, I think 10-8 in the league is the bare minimum for them to have a shot (barring a SECT run).

Their D2 win does not count for RPI purposes.

They probably need to win 22 (21) to get in the conversation with that deplorable schedule.

I’ll be happy with any post season tournament. State has been excruciating to watch for the last several years. It’s nice to finally see them progress as the season goes along.

Yeh, all the folks talking about 'What does State need to do to make the NCAA' need to pump the brakes. The only conversation State fans should be having is how can they get into the NIT.

You want to know how State makes the big dance? They catch on fire from deep range in the SEC tourney and win the whole thing. That's it. We're too streaky to win more than 5-6 more reg season games, and that's a stretch. I think we're looking at a 19-12 finish.

The Dogs will be the youngest team, by far, on the floor in each of those games. So anything could happen.

Is there any game that could be called a sure win?

Alabama is 348th in experience. MSU is 327th. So, State will be the old dogs in that one.

Bama average age is 20.8 and MSU 20.1

Those 7 months make a YUGE difference

We already beat Missouri and smoked Vandy we should at least split those games and I think we split lsu/Tennessee. Probably lose at A&M but could win. 6 wins is likely, 7 is possible. Win 1-2 games in SECt and we should make it in

For one, you said the youngest team by far.

For two, State's most frequent lineup (per KenPom) is : Peters, N-Weatherspoon, Q-Weatherspoon, Holman,, Ado (SO, FR, JR, JR, FR).

Alabama's most frequent lineup is : Sexton, Petty, Ingram, Jones/Key, Hall (FR, FR, SO, FR/SO, JR)

Splitting hairs, but State has 2 contributing experienced juniors. Alabama has 1. They are 2 of the 3 youngest teams in the league along with Kentucky. And all 3 play like it.

I'd be surprised if we didn't make the NIT tbh

Those were home games. Road games aren't exactly the same, especially for a young team, as you should know since State is 1-5 in them this year.

No but none are a for sure loss either.

Watching the past 2 games we have played with more confidence. I think we finish strong and are hard to beat at home (14-1 at home) so losing no more than 1 remaining home game and winning at least 1 remaining road game should have us on the bubble

True but Vandy is pretty awful and we should at least get that one. We beat a bubble team on the road last night.

@Mizzou
@lsu are both possible if we play like we did last night.

Vandy is 3-2 in their last 5 home games, beating Alabama and TCU and losing close games to Tennessee and Kentucky. That would be an impressive win for State, regardless of Vandy's overall record.

I really like this State team. Add Perry and Woodard to this group and it's going to be a physical matchup nightmare next season.

Ado, Holman, Perry, Woodard along with experience at guard with the Weatherspoons, Carter and Peters. That's a fun looking team.
