The NCAA got humiliated in the last 2 big academic scandals in Miami and UNC. So given the opportunity, they took an academic faux pas by Missouri and turned it into a major case. What was Missouri's crime? Hiring a crazy bitch for a tutor that went rogue and started violating rules. The athletes didn't care because they were benefiting. And that gives the keystone cops at the NCAA the opening they need to go overboard on penalties just to show they are tough on academic fraud. Kinda like the bullshite they pulled with Alabama over textbooks.
