I haven’t been doing anything but work lately and caught a break. I looked on twitter and it was blowing up with salty Oregon fans giving him the middle finger.

Is it a case of “he’s a douche but he’s our douche” or is he actually respected?

He's really good at puppeteering the country bumpkins in Alabama. They treat him as gospel.

No normal person likes Finebaum or thinks of him as some sort of ambassador of the SEC

No just a douche.

He was chosen precisely because he helps to paint a picture of the stereotypical SEC fan. He’s paid to troll both SEC fans and haters.

He’s good at rattling the cages of the dim witted in the SEC. Beyond that, he’s not particularly gifted at much else.

What kind of putz thinks he's supposed to be?

Honestly, the show is a pretty good source of information for the conference, especially the segment about the SEC trying to force CBS back to the table today.

However, it also has a regular spate of callers, some of whom are merely there to create drama. They don't always last. The pussy from Columbus, GA lost his gig on the show this week for being human garbage. But it adds to viewers and listeners. Americans love scripted drama, and ESPN is going to give it to them.

A lot of people outside of SEC country think his show is fully representative of the SEC fan base.

Now, before he was hired on at ESPN I will say his radio show was a novel approach. Basically a caller driven parody of Alabama and Auburn fans going at it. It could be funny at times but Paul wasn’t the reason for his rise in popularity his callers were. And seemed like most of the good ones either died or faded away.

I've tried to tune in a few times. Never lasted more than 10 mins.

He's terrible and the callers are insane

Don't think I've seen a more accurate description. Him himself really isnt much but he's built up a bunch of select callers he knows will make for entertainment and he knows how to stir things up. Its entertaining to be sure but I never go to his show or opinions looking for actual credible football discussion, I tune it for the fan melts because some can be quite hilarious

He's a huge Alabama fan and acts as such.

You'll see a lot of spin otherwise but that's where his show begins and, ironically, ends.

He's the SEC's Jerry Springer at this point.

ETA: There are zero titties though which brings his value down in my opinion.
