He has been on the sideline for multiple Gator games as a guest and is in the Ring of Honor. Think you are overselling a dislike for Florida.

not sure if this is true - but I had heard that ES wanted to go to AU - but his Mom wouldn't let him due to the scandal with Brent Fullwood
No idea if this is true, but Emmitt's mom definitely ran the roost.
I remember Fullwood from summer camps and I was a freshman at UF when Fullwood was on his official visit and my friend was hosting him and later said he was the biggest a-hole he had ever met.
I also remember him winning the 40 yd dash as a high school jr against the seniors at summer camp at UF while he was wearing a shower cap.
He may have been an arse, but he was also a bad arse.
PS. There were about 10 of the fastest guys at camp that lined up and ran the 40 and I think Fullwood was the only junior. It looked to me like BF just edged out John L Williams, but the coaches claimed JLW was the winner, I think because he was committed to Florida.

I seem to recall him sitting out the cocktail party because he hurt his finger. Never did much against UGA anyway. While Herschel played almost an entire game in the Sugar Bowl with a dislocated shoulder. There are real men and then there are wimps. Maybe that’s why.

Emmitt played vs the giants with a separated.shoulder try again.

He singlehanded beat Alabama at Legion Field.
He couldn’t be stopped.

Good shot at Heisman had he gone to AU, but I think a Natty for sure. We had James Joseph and Stacey Danley. They were good, but Emmitt would have put those late 80s AU teams over the top.

I watched him run all over a good Bama defense. I have nothing bad to say about him. Some credit his NFL rushing record to the Cowboys oline, but he is the NFL all time leading rusher, and that ain't nothing to sneeze at.

Mine too and Herschel and Bo didn't accomplish what emmitt Smith did.
Do what?
Remind me of how many TD's he scored against UGA.

His mother never moved to Gainesville and he never got any hate mail. If you are inferring that we bought Emmitt, I really don’t have any idea, but I do know that we had just come off some serious probation for recruiting violations and our recruiting coordinator was from Auburn and our head coach was from Alabama. So if you want to have a pissing contest over who cheats the most I am happy to oblige.
Now that’s how you SEC rant right there! Perfect spelling and grammar with flame throwing
Watch out for the backlash, Auburn fans can hang with anyone on talking smack.

You kind of don’t want to go after SEC royalty here. Herschel was as pure as Tebow and Danny Wuerrfel. His running was perfection, you could not take your eyes off of him.
Meanwhile Bo was probably the greatest athlete of all time.

I always thought it was funny that Emmitt Smith visited Auburn twice as many times as Florida during his recruitment, omitted Florida from his Hall of Fame speech, and admitted his second choice was Auburn. His mother also got a nice job and moved to Gainesville when he was in college. I also don’t think Emmitt Smith was too fond of the hate mail he received from fans after leaving Florida before his senior season.
Total BS/myth about the job thing. And, there is a lot of innuendo that is hyped up about the Auburn thing. Like all recruits, they have more than one place they like. Like all fans, the athlete was stupid for not choosing their school or there was some funny business and secretly, they love their school better than the one they went to. Auburn's red-headed step child syndrome is alive and well when it comes to Emmitt Smith.

he was all the offense uf had for three years at Florida.
Here is why I think he doesn't get more credit:
1. He wasn't their only offense (Willie McClendon...and to a much lesser degree, Errict Rhett shared the backfield with him). Since Rhett followed immediately behind Smith and became Florida's All-Time leading rusher...it detracted from what Smith did.
2. Record...Florida went 20-16 when Emmitt Smith played there.
3. Numbers...Emmitt Smith isn't in the top 10 in the SEC for career rushing yards or rushing touchdowns.

From the mouth of Emmitt Smith about Alabama fans (rall tad yawl) hating him:
LINK /
“Number one, my mother told me I wasn’t going to Alabama, period,” Smith said. “So that kicked them out. Number two, if I went to Alabama, I probably would’ve ended up at Auburn with Pat Dye. So either way it went, Alabama fans would have been mad at me regardless. I was in a no-win situation when it comes down to that. My mom won out. But the Gators were my very first choice as a freshman in high school. My high school was the Gators as well, so I felt very comfortable with the Gators and our colors was orange and blue just as well. To me, it was a natural segue into becoming a Gator.”

1. Rhett played at Florida from 1990-93 (4 years). Smith played 87-89.
2. Yep, Florida had Kyle Morris as QB and nothing else needs to be said.
3. Smith was top 10 until years after he played.

He played on a great Cowboys team with a great oline and ran out of bounds a lot. Overrated.
I wouldn't say overrated, but there have definitely been better backs in the league. He just had a long career playing behind an always exceptional offensive line and a great fullback that took most of the punishment for him. It was a perfect storm and I don't see his all-time rushing record ever being topped, mostly because it's more of a passing league now.

Yes the all time leading rusher in the NFL has no durability, you are really on to something here buddy. He also played all of his home games in college and the pro's on artificial turf as well. Not the soft new stuff but the old hard arse shite that would tear you up.

Saunders retired still not suffering any major injuries. He was still fresh. 10 years all 1,000 yards or more. He must be a miniature tank because he rarely got injured and missed any games and yet this was all with the loser lions.
It was more a matter of not taking many hard shots. He was so damn shifty, that rarely was anyone able to square up on him.

I don't think anyone on that team at that time needed hookers.
