How close is Georgia to being the new swinging dick?

It's difficult to say how close Georgia is to being the new swinging dick of the conference. A strong argument likely could be made that Georgia just made swinging dick after winning the SECCG last weekend. The argument would be a national championship followed by a second straight 12-0 regular season followed by an SEC title.
Not me, though. Personally I think that Georgia still needs to close the deal this season and go 15-0 and win a second straight national championship., At that point it would be difficult to debate that Georgia wasn't the CURRENT top program in the conference, or the swinging dick of the SEC and take it away from Alabama.
Keep in mind that being the swinging dick of the SEC is not a career achievement award. If that was the case then Alabama would continue to be the swinging dick until Coach Saban retired. It's the CURRENT top program in the SEC, the one you'd say "Damn! They'll probably be the favorite again next year too."
It's a testament to Alabama and Saban. Alabama has been swinging it going on 13 years now, after Florida had it for a second and LSU made swinging dick for a little while before that. How long Alabama has been the swinging dick under Saban, however, now that's legendary!

Georgia is on the same level as alabama now, but until Saban retires they won’t surpass. Them both teams will be good enough any given year to win it all, it just depends what type of luck each team has and which way the ball decides to bounce.

I don’t think there will ever be a program like Saban’s Bama again due to NIL. Teams won’t be able to stockpile talent like they used to. No way top recruits will be fine with sitting two or three years before they start. They’re going to transfer.

It’s arguable Georgia has already passed Alabama now (not historically obviously); especially if they run the table and go back to back. What will be interesting is if Kirby can maintain the standard when he’s losing coordinators constantly (I realize he lost Lanning last year but you can argue the defense has always been Kirby’s baby). Not sure if the portal will help with that or hurt.

UGA is one of about 10 teams with a legitimate shot to win it all every year and has a top 3 coach in that 10. We won't replicate what Saban has done, but it is a good place to be

Everyone is looking up to UGA. They won the natty, are clearly on "that" next level, and won the conference going undefeated into the playoffs.

Much like how before the scholarship limit, Bear Bryant would offer players full rides just to keep them away from other rival programs, even if there was no intent on playing the kids.

I’m happy with having a successful football program with a shot at the playoffs every season. It’s a good place to be.
I doubt anyone will surpass Alabama’s legendary run.
