Never heard of a transfer portal? Transfers without having to sit out? They both exist now.

We still lose with Newman at qb.
Not sure he screwed anyone but himself come draft day.

Sounds like a fricking loser.
You're up for a promotion you don't get but you could get the position at another company. Do you leave?
This isn't about kids leaving. That's just businesses.
It's about coaches both attracting the best kids and putting the best of them in positions where the team will have most success.
That last part is where UGA has had issues.

Who did Jamie Newman get beat out by? Dwan Mathis?

I think the problem for Georgia is a lot more than a QB. The last three times they have played Alabama with Smart as the coach Alabama has outscored them in the second half 68-17.
That's one coaching staff (Saban) making adjustments and coaching to win and the other staff (Smart) freezing up and being scared to.
Georgia is in quite the quandary, Smart is doing too good to justify firing but its pretty obvious he's not the guy that's going to get them over tne hump and win a natty. Georgia is what we thought they were, a pretty good program but not championship material and that doesn't look to change anytime soon.
1980- It's getting farther and farther away

This is the crux of the problem. At the rate and level that UGA has recruited, it is incredible that Justin Fields transfer and Fromm graduating has them grasping at straws and putting hopes in a transfer QB.

Incredible how? It’s anything but incredible.

This is a transistion year for us anyway. Like all decent teams we have big hopes til the first loss but others were right. New OC, QB, OL, OL coach, etc. We don’t have the build on offense to win it. We recruit a lot of 5 stars, but lack the right guy in the most important position. Newman wasn’t that guy either. Maybe Fields was, but that ship has sailed long ago.
Fields will be, this year, just like last year, but even better. Working out with an elite QB coach (Day) all off season will do that.

Kirby was teaching Justin Fields how to hand off good as frick and for some reason Fields was unappreciative.

I've been reading that Fields had a bad attitude before the season began. 18 year old being an 18 year old. He didn't feel like he got a fair shake in spring camp and he made a bad situation worse by being a poor teammate (not going to improve or move up the chart if you are doing things that the team cant ignore).
That may have affected the 2020 camp from Kirby. 3 QBs got equal reps in fall camp (maybe newman didnt like sharing that much of the workload and decided to work on his own. Maybe an agent got in his ear about covid. Who knows). But kirby seems adamant about giving everyone a chance in camp to leave there mark... even in a shortened camp with fewer reps.

Who exactly did Newman get beat out by? A guy that couldn't last the first half of an Arkansas game? Then gets replaced by a 5'8" walkon? The only thing that chased Newman out of Athens was his desire to not QB the dawgs this season. Methinks all this spinning is making dawg fans kinda dizzy.

Yes, he has.
Dwan Mathis had brain surgery last year. Essentially a RS freshman because of it. He was a project before that even happened.
Carson Beck isn’t the type to step in as a True freshman.

1) fromm didn't graduate. He left for the draft after junior year.
2) bennett was a JuCo transfer asked to come back to fill in Fields void after 2018. Fields was the freshman recruit for the 2018 year.
3) mathis was the QB recruit in 2019. Had brain surgery after spring camp before his freshman season began. Basically missed a year with the team (did get work on scout team)
4) beck is the recruit for freshman class 2020 (mr florida football). Bennett had a year starting at juco and went to national championship game. Bennett spent 2017 on scout team and spent 2019 as 2nd string. Better prepared than beck to make good decisions at this point of an nfl offense.
5) we took newman and daniels to fill the fields void this past offseason. Newman was supposed to be the starter and Daniels was supposed to be healing to start 2021 when newman left. Newman left early and fans got excited that Daniels got reps with 1s during camp in 2 scrimmages. Turns out that daniels tweaked his knee during that time and has been working scout team since.

He can. But we would need a 2017 offense. We dont have 2017 personnel (Wynn at LT, Chubb/Sony/Holyfield) and we have a different OC.
