Doesn't it seem like there is a decent comparison for Brian Kelly to Houston Nutt. Houston Nutt came into the SEC during a time where many of the West's traditional powers couldn't put it all together and gleefully marched into the SEC West title on the back of the recruiting machine that came before him. Kinda cringy and the rest of the Fandom seemed to make fun of him, but for some reason announcers couldn't say a thing wrong about him.

Nutt had a better winning percentage than BK in his first season.

I don’t get why some hate Nutt so much. He coached some bad games but won some exciting games. He just stayed too long, he should have gone to Nebraska when they came for him.

Nutt didn't recruit for shite. BK does. And if by the "recruiting machine that came before him," do you mean the 39 scholarship players left on the roster when he took the job? Ya'll keep trying to convince yourselves that the man isn't going to have success at LSU. It's entertaining to watch.

Kiffin is a better comparison to Houston Nutt than Brian Kelly is, IMO.

Nutt didnt make it to his first SEC championship game until 2002 4 years after he was hired. WTF are you talking about?

The SEC had just won 2 NC's and would win a 3rd in Houston's first year. That's 3 more than it won the previous decade. So I wouldn't say they couldn't put it all together, even though they've since improved.

What was he missing on defense? Because that backfield should have been hard to control. Something was missing. Interior linemen?
