"Coach Jimbo Fisher is throwing out clichés that the Aggies’ success, or failure, next season is dependent on whether his players and coaches “want it.” Yes, that is sad.

Now, the back-patting the Aggies still do over their move to the SEC is befuddling.

With just one 10-win season since its last championship game appearance, A&M has been the most disappointing program in college football."

Baylor a prayer away from playoffs...rest of TX...NOT

"A&M played “super all year,” according to its $75 million coach, despite going 7-5, losing to every ranked team it faced, and taking an embarrassing 50-7 beatdown in Baton Rouge last week."

It's true... part of it is recruiting guys that are not just great athletes, but fit the culture and will work hard. Part of it is coaching that into your players.

Dabo will say that the best teams he has been a part of are player led. I think you see that this year with LSU and Joe Burrow. I see that with Clemson.

I was still going to the barbershop for haircuts the last time the Aggies were in a conference championship game. Could anyone have predicted a 21-year drought after that thrilling 1998 win over Kansas State?

Perhaps losing four games a year is A&M’s lot in life.

I'm going to have to take your word, as the article is behind a paywall.

I am also going to assume you don't know who Jerome Solomon is.

When LSU went looking for a coach a couple years ago, a good percentage of LSU boosters wanted to hire Fisher or Herman. The overwhelming sentiment was that LSU had to “settle” for Ed Orgeron. Turns out, the mess has settled in Austin and College Station.

In championship week, Orgeron is busy coaching. Fisher and Herman are not.

With the exception of Baylor and SMU this has been a horrible year for the old SWC. Texas entered the season with a lot of fanfare... and wound up about where they were under Strong. A&M had a tough schedule yes, but they lost every game that really mattered this year. Houston is dead in the water. Arkansas looked at last year's season being pronounced as the worst in school history and said "hold my Pepsi".

At some point you have to wonder are there too many chefs in the kitchen for Texas football as a whole? You have a small army of colleges in the state and even more outside the state fishing for recruits. Declaring that you are going to fix your recruiting woes by going after Texas football players is no longer a sure fix because everyone in the country is going after them.

The best line:

"UT came home in a four-way tie for third in the Big 12, singing a Stealers Wheel classic with non-power state schools from Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa."

This is a bit of an exaggeration. USC, Miami, and Texas certainly compete for this title.

A$M is a mediocre team with delusions of grandeur, perceived entitlement due to perceived wealth, equipped with a very annoying little brother attitude that they unfortunately transfered to LSU from UT, and possession of an irrational irrepressible optimistic wait till next year outlook. They are #4 behind Alabama, LSU, and Auburn in the West.

This means they will have the occasional great year, and the occasional crap year. But they will be 7-5 (4-4) perineally. Not bad. Not great. Mediocre.

But it's still exhilaratingly funny. I agree with you but I see his point. Jumbo got paid nearly what Nick does and look at the results.

Jerome Solomon absolutely HATES A&M. Don’t know if he’s a Longhorn grad or just a homer. But his bias has been no secret for years. He really showed his arse when A&M left for the SEC. Looks like he is still talking about it.

So yeah, he’ll try to put A&M down to take the attention off Tom Herman’s failures at Texas this year. Totally different circumstances. But that’s why people don’t sound intelligent when they try to say the two programs are similar.

The article does not center around aggy. I just highlighted some of the aggy comments b/c it's relevant to the SEC. He hammers on UT as well.
