It isn't anywhere close to a dump.
That being said, the new Barons stadium is really nice.

The contract with Hoover was just renewed a year or 2 ago, so it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe if the crowds start getting smaller they will consider it when the contract is up, but the tournament has been pretty successful at this central location so I wouldn't bet on it.

Good Lord. It's pretty much the exact opposite.
Im talking about the stadium, in comparison to thes eother newer., more modern parks with current MiLB occupants.
And im sorry but I dont care for the entire state of AL. Anyone who enjoys traveling there befuddles me.
Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis >>>>>>>>>>>> Alabama

Why are you crying so much in this thread? Because people are pointing out the place sucks in comparison to other better cities/venues?

I've noticed that the only fanbase that is outspoken about their apathy toward baseball is Alabama. They also seem to project those feelings onto every other fanbase without regard to accuracy.
I believe that the number of people who come to college baseball games speak more to the accuracy of the statement.

I think Autozone's capacity is around 14,000 and would be fricking perfect.
Dickey Stephens in NLR, the ballpark in Frisco, TX, Springfield Redbirds park, are all extremely nice too but Autozone Park would be the spot for me. Memphis is a destination city for a lot of folks, it could use the economic boost, and it's central to the schools and easy to get to being on I-40. B'ham is kind of a pain in the arse to drive or fly to. Memphis has a ton of regional flights going in there.

I'm adding just as much as eveyone else.
There was a way to go about this thread without it turning into a flame fest. LSU fans couldn't go one page without bringing us up.

If LSU fans had their way the SEC football championship game would be moved, the SEC offices, the SEC baseball tournament, Auburn would move to Montgomery, etc.
I've never seen such an insecure fan base.

If you are going to propose a new site, you need to at least meet 2 criteria to even utter a stadium:
A) it is in an SEC state - NC, really?
B) capacity equal to The Met's 10,800
That's not even getting into the idea that non-centralized locations (TX or AR) could lead to huge drops in total attendance. Yes, a TAMU/LSU game in TX would sell out in a second, but who would drive to TX for a UF/UGA game?
Bham is the literal center of the SEC. At least it is the closest city of more than 200k to the center, which would be rural AL.
Memphis would be sweet though. Wonder what that would cost the SEC. You need to displace the Cards AAA for a week or so.

But then again I guess maybe some people don't want to see the Marshall Space Flight Center, US Space and Rocket Center, the world's 4th largest (nation's 2nd largest) Research Park, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Orange Beach, etc. etc.
Yeah...befuddling.

If it rotated among NOLA, Memphis, Atlanta, Little Rock, and Bham I know Hog fans would turn out in droves the years it would be in LR
While I would love it being played at Zephyr field since its 15-20 minutes away. Memphis is the best place. Nicer park, and closer for 4 of the 5 fan bases that care most about baseball. It is further for USC, but couldn't that much further, and their team doesn't seem to emphasize the tournament all that much.
The tourney in Memphis would likely generate more revenue for the city than it does for Hoover.

Can't that be said for all 14 teams in the conference?

If it was in Memphis I would find a way to be there. People in Arkansas can't just up and drive down to fricking Hoover for a weekend
