some of the early games I am sure were not sold out, but when it got to Sat matches it appeared to be full. They interviewed Slive during the Championship game and he seemed quite happy with the turn out and the venue.

Yeah they had the "if necessary" games on Saturday with the true double elimination format until this year. Not sure I like this new format. I wonder would the round robin pod thingy that the ACC uses work for us with all 14 teams going. Missouri, Florida and Kentucky made long trips for just one game

ETA - never mind. That would only work with 8 teams or 16 but you would need 2 venues to play a 16 team round robin

how would the pool play work with 14 teams. Do you invite them all. if so you would have to start on Monday and play 4 games all day. I still think you would have to do pool play with 12 or possible 10.

Easy. Especially since you didn't include not getting shot. FTR BBQ fest draws much more tourism than the SEC Baseball tourney. So parking wouldn't be too big a hassle.

i think whoever gets the bid for the sec baseball will need to be able to provide RV parking nearby. that has to be a factor since there are a group that come in their RV

not going to debate this with you. Per Gene Hallman the downtown park would not be considered due to seating.

Then move it to Memphis. The park itself is a dump. And the Bruno Event Team contract is up when the Hoover Met contract ends as well. So clearly Gene has a bias.

B1G - Target Field:

ACC - Durham Athletic Park:

Big 12 - Bricktown:

Big East - Bright House:

Great West - Riverfront:

SEC - Hoover Met:

you clearly are too bright..I only mentioned Gene;s name as it pertains to Hoover and Bham. He said Bham new field is not big enough for the sec tournament. so let me be clear with you DA. Gene has nothing to do with other cities bidding for the tournament. Gene should know, about bham only. there were a number on here that keep asking why the new Regions field does not host the tournament. that is what I was commenting on. Not memphis, not any other city outside of the bham metro area. Kapish.

Well there is park in downtown memphis called Tom Lee Park. It's where music fest, BBQ fest, and many other festivals take place. I think that's plenty big for a few 100 RV's. it's an easy walk up riverside drive to get to Autozone on Union avenue.

And the Hoover RV park holds 125, IIRC. They keep acting like its TD Village in Baton Rouge with 500+ and brings in hundreds of thousands.

If the SEC office wants it at Regions Field, Gene Hallman will lap up the idea. If i were guessing right now Gene hallman is probably getting paid to promote the met so of course he will say its the only option.

LINK

average attendance = 7, 912 per game. I don't mind smaller venues over crap stadiums. Better stadium Tennessee Titans or Tennessee Vols? pretty easy answer so frick capacity. Hoover needs to forget about baseball and convert the met into a soccer facility and land a minor league team. Also, pursue the ncaa soccer tourney.

Autozone park and downtown memphis

Beale Street.

The Original Peabody

Every Thursday night there are rooftop parties on top of the Peabody as well.

My favorite part about Autozone is there is a huge picnic/party area in right field. You can get caterers, bands, or whatever you fancy to make your visit that much more special. You can see it in the Autozone pic above. The yellow tents mark the spot.

Heh?

For the "Best Baseball Conference" we surely don't showcase that in our tournament facilities.

The listed attendance was tickets sold, obviously. I saw a ton of empty seats when LSU played bama in the elimination game. And tickets sold, to some degree, go to corporate sponsors, the same sponsors who would buy them in the new stadium. As an older fan, I appreciate a packed stadium, with the crowds next to the players, then a larger, spread out stadium that is 1/3 empty. CPM likes Hoover because its dimensions are similar to those in Omaha. I doubt he cares bout the number of tickets sold or fans in actual attendance.

Holy shite the bitching.

Jee-zus.

There is more bitching on here about bitching than anything else.

When are y'all going to realize LSU fans like to piss and moan and get over it?

This incessant bitching about LSU fans bitching is just getting ridiculous already.

Give it a rest.
