I agree. The only problem is that the Hoover Met continues to draw very good 12,000+ crowds for the semi-finals and championship rounds the last few years despite neither Alabama nor Auburn being involved in any of those games. Either LSU, Mississippi State, or Ole Miss have to stop making it to the championship game or their fans have to decide not to show up to get the tourney moved. The fact that the place draws such excellent crowds for the championship game despite not having an in-state participant hurts the effort to move it.

The downtown Bham stadium is a very nice venue but 10,000 is about the most you could squeeze into it. I'm not sure the league is going to give up the extra capacity it knows it can mostly fill where it is now.

I just did do the Hardees breakfast biscuits. My guess is we won't do one. I am content to sit in my easy chair and eat left over boston butt.

Have you done the "too deep" for Nick yet? A-Day was a little sloppy but hey, when will we throw 70 passes again? I want the OL rush ready come September, they looked pretty good.

Who the hell cares what the hell Gene Hallman says, he probably has an incentive to keep it at hoover. So what if they sec moves it to a somewhat lower capacity seating with regions field,. Quality trumps Quantity anyday. Sec is rich enough to bypass a few $ with lowered capacity seating, contract up, goodbye hoover.

Hoover Met also hosted NCAA Men's Soccer Final Four National Championship. Did the year before too.

And just entered into an agreement to host again.

Seems like facts arent on the side of many in here.

I would think it means capacity but I do not know the specifics. Most conferences have capacity guidelines for venues.

Facts were not the motive of the OP. The first few pages went his way though.

the number of seats the downtown stadium is not enough for the number of folks who would want to attend. So to answer the ark. idiot. Gene Hallman is part of the Bruno event team that has a major input in the sports events that come to Bham. He is probably one of the most powerful sports people in Alabama outside of NS, and Mike Slive. So Gene hall has nothing to do with the event if it should have a higher bid outside of Hoover, but if Hoover gets the bid then he has a say so in helping plan the event.

the baseball thing does need to be in a central part where all fans could attend without having to fly or drive 2 days to get there. So some in this thread seem to think Hoover got it because of some unknown reason. They got it because they were the one who won the bid.

i read a lot of al.com post from LSU fans and others who attended this past tournament and for the most part everyone was complimentary of the venue.

regions is about 7500...with the Berm at Hoover they can let in over 14k. I think for an Atl Braves exhibition game one year they had over 18 K. If need be in hoover they could bring in outfield bleachers to create thousand more seats

Saw a stat at the end of telecast yesterday that showed LSU with 10 tournament championships. Bama has 7, not bad for a school that hates baseball supposedly.

during the second LSU vs Bama game it appeared to be a heavier LSU crowd in the stands. I wish Bama baseball fans had this much passion. I think a new stadium or a major overhaul of the old one in Ttown will help the students. Not sure what that matters from the student standpoint. I don't have to have a fancy new state of the art digs as a student to go support my fellow classmates. I think for students to use that as an excuse are just FOS.

Yes it is...attendance was announced at 10k, but that was clearly tickets sold.

not going to debate this with you. Per Gene Hallman the downtown park would not be considered due to seating.

i thought it was amazing that 3 of top 5 seeds made it to the final four with SC being the odd team out. and I don't recall if we have ever had a 1 vs 2..This was also the first year where I think on Sat. it was a winner take all. LSU beat an unbeaten Ark team and advanced without having to play a rubber match.
