Homer musing of the day: Mac Jones will prove to be the best quarterback in this draft

Hear me out...
Jones has a little over a year as a starting quarterback at the collegiate level, he is still learning and acclimating on certain levels, he has the work ethic and drive to continue to improve
Bill Belichick said the first thing he looks for in a quarterback is intelligence .. Mac is probably the foremost quarterback in the draft in decision making ability and football IQ
The knock against Mac is his lack of mobility.. I would submit he is more mobile than Tom Brady ever was, and like it or not Tom Brady is the gold standard of NFL quarterbacks
Mac exhibits a lot of Bradyesque qualities.. and I have seen them compared by experts on numerous occasions in regard to their accuracy and ability to make good instantaneous decisions
Some NFL GM will see it the same way and Mac will not slide past pick 15 and somebody will get a real bargain
Don't give a shite whether you agree or not.. bookmark this page and call me out down the road

...I said numerous experts have compared him to Brady
Here's two examples ...I can post 20 more Todd McShay on why Mac Jones reminds him of Tom Brady
Bill Belichick sees a little Tom Brady in Mac Jones

Well, his game is similar to Brady’s and he’s way better in college than Brady ever was. You can’t compare NFL Brady right now to college Mac Jones. That’s not fair. Nobody’s saying Mac is going to win seven Super Bowls but the comparison to their college games is not unfounded. Watch Brady’s Michigan highlights and Mac’s. They’re nearly identical. Brady even wore No. 10, hehe.

"A little over a year"? Exactly the point. He played with arguably the # 1-2 team in college football history. Comparing a QB with such limited playing experience to the G.O.A.T. is a push even for bama homers. I don't give a shite, either. I just find it amusing.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit... Belichick and McShay among others are comparing him.. I'm just citing their observations

Eeeeeh
Mac Jones reminds me of McCarron in a high powered offense.
Good in the pocket.
Good at getting the ball to elite playmakers.

Mac Jones will end up just like the other bama QB’s that fizzle in the NFL. May get more starts because he’ll be a first rounder based on stats alone.

The success rate of QBs with only one year of college starting experience is not great, to be kind.

Jones would be smart to come back for another year. Lack of tape will be an issue for him

One thing about Mac, if he bombs in the nfl he put 55 on LSU.
And that makes my Johnny tingle every time I think about that.

If that certain GM takes Mac Jones w/a top-15 pick it'll be one of the worst overdrafts and misuse of draft capital in recent NFL Draft history, and that same GM will be out of a job in 3 years.
Jones is not a starting NFL caliber QB. Holy God this made my head hurt.

Show me on the doll where Mac Jones touched you... Was it the 41 points he hung on the "NFL caliber" defense at Georgia in 3 quarters

Zach Wilson will be the best QB in this draft, TLaw notwithstanding. Kid is gonma be a STUD!

I'm gonna go with the BYU kid but think Mac will be as good as Lawrence

I'm interested to see where Wilson goes.

If I’m Jones I strike while the iron is hot. His draft stock won’t get any higher by coming back. Get that money now.

Mac will continue to fly under the radar. It's just the nature of the NFL beast. It's his legs, my goodness, we need us a Kyler Murray or a Lamar Jackson to get us, well, they haven't exactly taken us anywhere yet, but you know what I'm saying?
In the meantime, we have to continue to watch that 40 something-year-old stiff, Tom Brady win it all, again and again, and again.

I'll bite...
1. Jones has only started 16 games in college. That's not enough. Mitch Trubusky, who was a top-5 pick, only started 13, and we see how that's turned out. TLaw, by compariso, started over 40 games in college as well as close to another 40 in high school, he started as a freshman at Cartersville. QB's w/those few starts usually don't make it in the pros.
2. He has the best players at every position surrounding him. He has never had to elevate lesser talent around him(the thing Brady has made a career of) b/c he has been surrounded by 5 stars everywhere.
3. He has thrown in nothing but wide open windows, again, b/c of #2 above. He has never thrown anyone open. That's not how it's gonna be in the pros, baw. You have to throw guys open in tight windows or you are gonna flush out.
