I’ve been saying it all year that the notion that defense wins championships is a thing of the past. Sure you need a good defense but we saw what LSU’s offense did to teams with good defenses

LSU's defense played pretty damn well down the stretch once they got everyone healthy.

Did you happen to notice this number here

quote:

31 LSU 15 1008 5153 5.11 39 42 343.5

1008...number of plays...of course they gave up more yards per game (which is what this ranking is based on)..they were on the field for more plays than anyone in SEC and second most in the country.

LSU is #1 in defense and offense this season. They have the rings to prove it. Next...

The operative stat is margin of victory against top competition.

LSU wins 4 games against the top five in the country by 188 to 104. Or 21 points.

Clemson was the number one defense. 264 yards per game. We gained 628.
Georgia “great” defense. 500 plus yards and 37 points. Georgia gave up 275 yards per game. LSU had 275 at half.
Florida “great” defense 42 points on 44 plays.

Stats are hugely distorted by the team schedule.

But keep focused on defensive upgrading stats.. while LSU averages 48 ppg and wins 10 to 12 games per year

Would you rather 8th ranked defense or a 2 loss season?

This just shows it was time for Aranda to move on. Like Chief, he was once the best DC in the country....but the game has passed him by.

What does this matter. If you win the natty do u really care ?

Right now there isn’t a defense that can shutdown the spread run with a good quarterback.. IllYou could line up any defense against LSU’s 2019 offense and they aren’t stopping it.

The best team in the history of CFB had a bad defense. Interesting.

As an LSU fan, this really upsets me. I wanted so much more than the most prolific scoring offense in college football history. It's upsetting that we could SEC records in nearly every offensive category; go 15-0; win the national title; and stop a 29 game winning streak of the defending national champion. I do have consolation that our defense held the #4 and #6 scoring offenses to 2 touchdowns each less than their average and the held the #3 and #5 total offense leaders to over 200 and 150 yards below their season average. So there's that.

Enjoy your Citrus Bowl victory.

Nice troll job dumbass. There is not single Tiger fans caring today what our defense was on our paper. On the field they were undefeated.

Wait, that chart says LSU played 15 games, but Bama only played in 13? Why is that? That doesn't seem fair, Bama should have gotten to play 2 extra games but didn't for some reason.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll contact the SEC office and see if I can get to the bottom of this games played discrepancy.
