Could anyone in the administration honestly say they hired the “best candidate possible” by hiring Luke tomorrow?

Let the emotion die down before anything is done. Please Ross. Do your job.

ETA: I’m not saying don’t hire him.. just saying don’t do I?t tomorrow.

I agree with not making an impulse decision and hiring Luke right away, but his name has to be in the mix.

Possibly, yes. Especially if you don't get word on the sanctions here pretty soon. It's not like other coaches are going to be crawling over glass for the Ole Miss job anyway. Add in the unknown nature of the sanctions and it's a pretty tough sell.

And you lost to Coach O.

What’s the point?

Why? He’s clearly in over his head.

You definitely don't do anything until you know what the NCAA is going to give you. The NCAA may concede they have bigger fish to fry (such as the FBI CBB scandal) and not hit you as hard as you thought they would.

Ole miss is going to be on probation for a few years. You save a shitload of money by hiring Luke and are also hiring a guy you know wants the job instead of someone that may come in and leave immediately. I don't know why Ole Miss fans act like it would be lazy. I think it's quite delusional that you believe a real candidate would want the job with the sanctions. You're not Alabama and there are a ton of P5 jobs open this year for teams that won't be on probation

Why would they hire him tomorrow?

Surely they wait until NCAA makes it official?

Probably the best Ole Miss can get.

It's hammer time.

What would be funny is if they offered it, and he turned it down due to impending sanctions

Regardless, enjoy the bowl season, land sharts. Watching, of course

What coach wants this job? Luke at least gives a shite about Ole Miss. He may be a good choice while in probation.

Ole Miss could pick this guy up for prob less than half million a year. He'd be a bargain.

The players LOVE him. I'd even wager one might be in love with him.
