For you young uns - here is what Nebraska was before joining up with Texas -

1991 Big Eight Conference Co-Champions
1992 Big Eight Conference ChampionsBIg 12 Football Conference Logo
1993 Big Eight Conference Champions
1994 Big Eight Conference Champions
1995 Big Eight Conference Champions
1997 Big XII Conference Champions
1999 Big XII Conference Champions
The five national championships of 1970, 1971, 1994, 1995, and 1997 marked the first time since Notre Dame (1946-49) when three national championships were won in four seasons. One record that no other college football team has come close to breaking is the 60-3-0 record from 1993 to 1997.

Since leaving Texas and the Big 12 ten years ago, they haven’t lost less than 4 games per year and have been sub 500 5 times.

Before you cheer adding Texas, you should research a little how they got played. Saban isn’t getting any younger.

You are Nebraska.

No they aren't. Nebraska is a sparsely populated state surrounded by sparsely populated states with limited access to population centers full of high school kids playing football.

Alabama has a lot more people, better football, and is near Atlanta and Florida. Even if Alabama falls off after Saban leaves, they will never be Nebraska.

Alabama is centrally placed in the best football recruiting region in the country. Alabama has been a nationally relevant program in any given decade since the 1920s. We’re fine.

Great points. A state with 5 million and two major football programs is nothing like a state with 2 million and 1 program. Not like any decent programs near Atlanta or Florida either…

What states around Nebraska are football hotbeds for recruiting? Is Nebraska? What’s the demographics of Nebraska and the surrounding states? Any state with the population size and demographic of Florida? Of Georgia? Of Tennessee?

Frank Solich to Bill Callahan to Bo Pellini to Mike Riley to Scott Frost (who whiffed on Joe Burrow) perhaps had something to do with it.

Texas recruiting pipeline dried up.

Just the pure speculation of this has driven you boys and girl to pathetic depths.

It’s been fun to watch.

Just because Texas AM could not stand up to Texas doesn’t mean the rest of the SEC can’t. It will be a lesson in humility

More five star athletes come out of Gwinnett County in a year than all of Nebraska in five years. Throw in the rest of metro Atlanta, central Florida, south Forida, Tampa, Jacksonville, Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham; there is a reason why UGA, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Tennessee, and Auburn have all had success over the years mostly recruiting just four states.

Nice try, but nope.

For the record, I am against Texas joining though.
