He didn’t, Starkel is not the better QB. We get y’all are excited y’all think you’ll have a better season now with him but you’ll see over the course of the season he’s not as great as you think.

Of course, he was the backup QB for most of his career. 2nd string QB is always the fan favorite player.

I liked Starkel, he has a good arm.

But I think Starkel’s lack of mobility was the biggest difference.

Mond can look a little stiff out there at times, but in his defense, his receivers were not getting open vs Clemson and also dropping balls they need to catch.

Have you seen our offensive line? Starkel was getting drilled almost the entire game when he was in and still was delivering frozen ropes 18 yards downfield. It’s 3rd and long and he threw a back shoulder throw that was nfl quality with pressure in his face

Good on Nick. I like him a lot. I thought he'd win the job over Kellan. But he's going to get injured again if that keeps up just as he did vs UCLA.

From a big arm pure passer Starkel was great. Accuracy was a little irratic, but nothing too bad.

Yes. Quite a few. Mond and Starkel were never all that far apart in ability. Mond got the job because he had the added upside of mobility, and Starkel had a tendency to throw interceptions whenever he got put into a game. The QB competition between them probably could have gone either way.

Accuracy is my biggest issue with mond. Other than that he fits the bill perfectly you just never know when he’s gonna air mail one to the safety

I don’t disagree but u could start by comparing them against comparable opponents . Ole miss is not the same as Clemson

I always liked Starkel over Mond. Mond is a more elusive runner, but he rarely scrambles so i dont know what benefit there was to taking Mond over Starkel. Starkel will turn it over 1 or 2 times every game making the wrong presnap read and going with it. Mond doesnt make the presnap read, freezes and turns it over anyways

Correct. I think that most of us with a brain realize that at the end of the day a transfer quarterback is what he is for a reason..a transfer. More often than not anyway.

That being said, a mediocre transfer is a huge upgrade from what we had.

It was quite frustrating to watch the inconsistent play of Mond with Starkel sitting on the bench last season. The same issues continue with Mond that he had his Freshman year: general lack of consistency, inaccurate passes, lack of pre-snap management which lead to delay of game penalties, we haven't seen this one much this year but in the last two seasons he gets happy feet in the pocket and can't get to scrambling which leads to unneeded sacks.

As it pertains to last season I suppose, as Jimbo, at a certain point you have to draw a line and say this is my guy. I personally think he did that too early but once Starkel got that signal he informed Jimbo he was transferring and that was that for the remaining games last season.

Right on, I would argue that in the pocket Starkel is actually the more elusive QB. Obviously once Mond gets out in the open then he is the much more capable athlete.

Starkel's weakness has always been bad reads/passes for interceptions. If he eliminates that I think he's the superior QB of the two.

Starkel has thrown some of the most beautiful pick sixes I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think Mond is all that bright. He was clearly told to snap the ball with 1 or 2 seconds left against Clemson to burn the clock and would let the clock run out trying to do it.

Yesterday he was told to use his progression to hit receivers and he missed open lanes to scramble while he looked for receivers with the pocket collapsing.
