Hey Aggie I know we suck and all but why did Jimbo choose the wrong qb?

Starkel was throwing balls that bounced off receivers face mask against ole miss while getting drilled and throwing off his back foot whereas you guys have some of the best receivers in the country and mond can’t hit them with all day in the pocket? I’m seriously not trying to troll but it seems like he made the wrong decision at qb (something Arkansas fans know all too well after the past two seasons) I’m just wondering what his reasoning was

I think Starkel had too much gun sligner in him for Jimbo's liking. He'll make some sick passes but he's going to turn the ball over trying to force some plays. He also is a bit of a statue and Mond can run (when he wants to anyway) much faster when need be.

I like starkel's arm. But he definitely throws too many interceptions for my liking.
I bet he will put up some big numbers in some games for Arkansas though. Like he did for us in the bowl game against Wake Forest.

I was a Starkel guy. Mond's inaccuracy issues drive me nuts.

I agree. Last year we were whopping that arse until Mond got benched for Starkel.

One of the reasons Jimbo is supposedly worth the money you paid him was due to his quarterback whispering abilities. He should have been able to coach Starkel up a bit and have a viable option when Mond Monds too much.

Mond has massive potential and looks exactly like what Jimbo was recruiting down there at QB down at FSU when their downturn began: big, strong armed, mobile, but inaccurate passers who never seem to put it all together.
He’s DeAndre Francois/James Blackman in an A&M uniform. Fully capable of beating the other team almost by himself on a good day, but much more likely to play you out of the game with poor decisions and inconsistency.
I’d be happy to have him in my three deep as a developmental guy, but you can’t have him as a QB1 until he demonstrates consistency in his downfield game.

I'm sure he would have if Starkel stayed. But Mond is the more versatile option. Mond has put up some stinkers on the road, but I doubt A&M wins 9 games last year with Starkel as QB.

Do you honestly believe Starkel could have marched the Ags down the field and scored that last TD?

Our OL play was bad. Starkel can't move. Mond made big strides.

Have you seen our offensive line? Starkel was getting drilled almost the entire game when he was in and still was delivering frozen ropes 18 yards downfield. It’s 3rd and long and he threw a back shoulder throw that was nfl quality with pressure in his face

Starkel was always respected. Arkansas got a good one. Mond is also well liked.
Jimbo had to make a decision for the future. This is Starkel's last year and he will cause some heartburn for some SEC teams (us?).
Good luck to both of them except for Starkel when Arkie plays us.

Supposedly, Mond (being the son of a military father) handled the Jimbo coaching style more to Jimbo's liking than Starkel did.
