In terms of having an impact on a program, it's Herschel Walker and it's not even close.

Bo Jackson

Auburn's four years before Bo (1978-1981) 24-19-1 .557 winning percentage
Auburn's four years with Bo (1982-1985) 37-12 .755 winning percentage
Auburn's four years after Bo (1986-1989) 39-7-2 .833 winning percentage

Bo's impact on Auburn's win/loss record- +.120 winning percentage

Herschel Walker

Georgia's three years before Herschel (1977-1979) 20-13-1 .603 winning percentage
Georgia's three years with Herschel (1980-1982) 33-3 .917 winning percentage
Georgia's three years after Herschel (1983-1985) 24-8-4 .722 winning percentage

Herschel's impact on Georgia's win/loss record- +.509 winning percentage.

Auburn actually improved by two games after Bo left and had a better winning percentage in the subsequent years. Georgia had one great year after Herschel but was never the same after that. Herschel was literally a program changing player.

Hershel, he recently ran a 4.39 40

He did say that he was in the best shape he has ever been.

This was actually in a Strikeforce interview promoting his next fight. I am a big MMA fan and have been following it since it's beginning in the mid 90's. I like Walker as a person and now fighter and respect him a lot, but a lot of what he said in that interview came off as major exageration. Few quotes:

1. Better shape than he was in in his 20's.

2. Could start at RB in the NFL right now.

3. Recently ran "4.38 or 4.39 40 or something like that". Then he went on to say he could definitely run a 4.5 forty as if he was backtracking a bit after exagerating.

4. Still claims to eat only one meal a day at 8 ot 9pm. I still don't buy it.

Anyway, Walker is awesome and all and at 48 he is in unbelievable shape and an inspiration, but I am having trouble buying all he claims.

I was in high school when Herschel broke on the scene. Given the lower level of media saturation compared to today, Herschel was almost as big of a phenomenon as Tebow. Just a force of nature. Bo was awesome, no doubt. But I'd give the edge to Herschel.

Bo had more natural ability. Herschel was a better RB and had more work ethic. You don't look like that at forty years of age without working for it.

Try 48. Says he wants to make an NFL comeback at 50 just to prove that he can do it.

I give Walker the nod because of his mental problems.

Those "Pass it on" commercials have finally gotten to me.

Since Bama fans think Ingram and Alexander both are better than BO...it has to be Hershel.

Actually if UGA went back to the way they were...then he wasnt a program changing player.
