No offense to Mississippi State but him leaving to go to Texas isn't that big of a shock. If I was Ole Miss' head football coach and Texas came calling, I'm taking the job. I love Ole Miss but there's no denying where the better opportunity is at

Much truth in this statement. Head women's basketball coach at Texas is definitely a step up from being the head football coach at Ole Miss.

What you probably don’t know is that we beat the shite out of them this year.

Hate that Dawn and Co didn’t have a chance at the NCAA tourney this year. They had a legit shot to win Dawn’s 2nd.

That’s great, but not my point.

Baylor has won 30+ games every full season since 2010. Only season to not do so was this year as the season was cut short. They’ve got a 40-0 year in there as well.

My point wasn’t a shot at Carolina, but the fact that Baylor’s women’s program sets the standard, along with UConn in the sport. Carolina is right there as well, but just doesn’t have the multiple titles like Baylor and UConn over the last 15 years.

If I am not mistaken, Schaefer is from Texas - isn't he a Texas A&M alum?? - and his parents live in Austin. And of course I'm sure Texas threw a ton of money at him.

But I always figured that he would stay in Starkville and build that program up as high as he could, and wait for Gary Blair to call it, and he take over there. But perhaps he doesn't want to follow in Blair's footprints, and wants to build a program unburdened by expectations???

Anyhow, Schaefer moves from the SEC and Dawn Staley, who he is 3-12 against including 0 for 4 in SEC tournament championship games in 5 seasons, as well as 0 for 1 in national championship games, to the Big-12 and Kim Mulkey at Baylor.

Karen Aston was 184-83 at Texas, but was 1-18 versus Baylor. Vic has his mandate.....

Kentucky’s Mitchell is staying. Squashed rumors last night that he might leave for State.

South Carolina has a way to go to match Baylor's success under Mulkey - perhaps they are well on their way with the team we now have - but people who follow WBB knows how Mulkey loves her some weak-sauce non-conference schedule to go along with her regular weak-sauce conference schedule.

Maybe Schaefer can make an impact there, who knows. And Mulkey is a great recruiter and they are in Texas, but might have had better post-season success than the success she has had, had her team been more battle-tested from stronger schedules over the years. You could say that the Big-12 is the rich man's AAC......

Glad he’s staying, he’s really built up the program and next yard team looks like maybe the best in the schools history.
