It's pretty clear on why.

- The first meeting did not change the practice nor the distraction. Period. Why? Because he never stated I am not leaving for Auburn or anywhere. "I am staying."

So the rumors continued and did so on the OLE MISS BOARDS. From ON3 to 247 to Rivals and even Sportstalk.

- So he had to have another meeting yesterday. The day before the egg bowl. Why? Because the distraction was still there and the story would not die. It would not because Lane would not kill it and it has been effecting practice.

To this day 3 things remain.

- Lane has still not said he is not taking another job, just that unless something changes... as in a "out". This has still not stopped the fans from being pissed on those boards.

- The players are not stupid either. They know the words "I will be your coach next year, right here at Ole Miss" never left his mouth.

= Everybody knows that he has yet to sign his extension and now reports are Carter is not happy about it.

It's been fun to watch the back and forth of the Ole Miss fans, but this is my last thread on it. It matters not to me. Lane is o-3 vs us.

You’re a State grad that sucks Bama dick.

Lane is 2-0 against you.

You get obsessed with things, this is your latest.

I personally don’t really care if Lane stays at Ole Miss, goes to Auburn or decides to move to Honduras and grow plantains.

He certainly left the door open.

However, I don't think he left it open for Auburn, but rather if another job unexpectedly comes open like Bama or Texas.

Saying it over and over and over makes it no more true than when you said it the first time.

Personally, I have always thought it would be Nebraska until Saban retires.

He father coached there and it's an easy road to wins.

You’re probably spot on. Fans were losing interest in this game. Walk of Champions would have been super awkward. And the players need to be focused. I told a friend of mine that I’m ok with any outcome as long as we win this game.

No coach under a current contract will ever say he's leaving before seasons end to take another job. That's grounds for firing with cause. Plus opens up a lawsuit against the new hiring school for negotiating a job with a coach already under a signed contract.

Deals are made by their agents, therefore a coach can deny any and all plausibility. Hence they keep their mouths shut until the season is over.

It's customary to meet with the team twice before a game. It's called practice

True. The college degree most likely eludes him.
