He said that this year he could see a real possibility that, if Bama and UF run the table and go into the SEC championship game as UF 1 and Bama 2 and Bama were to come out on top with a narrow victory, there could be a rematch in the BCS NC game...especially with the new BCS formula...

What think you guys? Possibility or not?

Maybe if it went to overtime, but it seems really unlikely.

I'm for what ever makes the BCS looks stupid and this would.

I would rather see Cincy or Boise get in to bust up this horse shite system.

Not likely. The universe would implode before the pollsters would allow 2 SEC teams to play for the NC. Besides, you have Texas, Boise St., Cincy, Virginia Tech, and of course USC hot the heels of the top 2.

But say you have a 1 loss Alabama and 1 loss Virginia Tech there. How could you put Va. Tech in over Alabama--you can't. See LSU 2007.

Herbie was all about a rematch of Mich and OSU several years ago when they met as #1 and #2.

In any case is is a ridiculous idea. Number 1, you have your chance to prove who is best at a neutral site called the SECCG. Number 2, what if the loser of the SECCG rematches and wins in the BCSCG? What has been proven? Nothing. Who is number 1? No one. You would end up saying one team was better at the end of the regular season and the other was better in bowl season.

It is a dumb idea.

I hope not. There really is no reason. All the chips are down in SECCG whoever wins that should be presumed the better team. I am not saying Alabama will play in the game, but if we do and are undefeated and same with Florida I say lose goes to the Sugar bowl.

Under your scenario, never. I think the voting component would do everything in there power to prevent this from happening.

Now, if everyone else had two losses just like the 2007 season then I think you would see a rematch.

See 2008 Texas team. They beat Oaklahoma during the regular season but were denied a shot at the BCS championship becuase they did not win their conference. If an udefeated Alabama and Florida play for the SEC Championship the looser probably will fall out of the NC picture.

if bama somehow is able to beat UF in the SECCG, i would not want to play them again.

i would want an easy win, like against the buckeyes in the NCG.

True. But if they have identical records, how can anyone justify putting Va. Tech in over Alabama? Even if Va. Tech wins their conference.

Sadly, there is precident, and it happened last season. Oklahoma over Texas. I know that's more the Big XII's fault with their tiebreaker, but it could happen again in this scenario. However, if a rematch is going to happen it would possibly happen with a 12-1 SEC versus a 13-0 SEC, if ever.

How so? The BCS is just meant to put the 2 best teams against each other for a NC game. If UF and Bama are the 2 best teams, then it did what it was supposed to do.

That being said, I wouldn't want to see a rematch game.

I think the rest of the country would love to see us beat up on each other for a NC - I would rather see one of the two in the next best BCS game and win that too.

IMO, that would not be fair to the winner for obvious reasons.
