Really?
Give me Vic & Anthony's, Brenner's, Eddie V's, Del Frisco's, and/or The Palm any day!
We may have to schedule a few steak-a-thons in the future.

Growing up on the Gulf Coast and having free reign as to the wonders of Gulf seafood all my life was wonderful.

But that's not true.

I've been told Dodie's, Nate's, or the Dirty Cajun are the places to go in Dallas.

Moving it to this page too, just to repeat the most Texas thing I've heard today.

quote:

I'm from Houston. Third best food city in the United States in my opinion.

What?

NYC, CHI, San Fran, LA, Portland, Seattle, Miami, and about 10 others are better.

When Houston has a place even considered for a Michelin star, get back to me.

Link? or should we believe you because you said so?

What do you want the link to?

The population of Texas?

LINK

The fact that the SEC Network model is based on subscribers paying more in the footprint?

quote:

SEC Network is reportedly charging $1.40 per subscriber every month in states that have SEC schools. Collectively, the 11 states are known as the SEC “footprint.” Subscribers outside the “footprint” will pay 25 cents.

LINK

Footprint-based model plus 26 million people equals you are fricking welcome fellow SEC programs. Only UF brings a footprint like that to the table.

Got my only decent beignets outside of NOLA in Austin. It wasn't the same, but it was good.

There's really only one place in Baton Rouge that even attempts beignets. They're hard.

Pappadeaux's used to be good for a Greek salad, but even that sucks now.

Houston is a severely underrated food city. Really, an underrated city in general. It's kinda like to Texas what New York or LA is to the US. Multicultural epicenter of the state.

Minneapolis is a surprisingly good food city as well. Just don't go in the winter. I'm serious. Don't. Go.

Rebelgator, there are just as many links out there that put Houston dining above those places.
Depends on the publication.

look, college station is much, much better than it used to be but it still is blase' as hell. and to say there are great restaraunts there is so over the top it is laughable. maybe a good barbeque joint but that's it. and you really shouldn't be bragging about your winery.

if you are happy with the food and wine scene there good for you.

when you travel to other places, those with good food and wine, your standard will be raised. i'm not knocking you are college station but you are the one that brought it up.

The worst part by far of being an ex-pat is the Texas "king cake." They use fricking sprinkles y'all, its disgraceful.

I'm just saying, there are lots of places in Louisiana that ship.

Try Meche's on Congress in Lafayette. Not sure if they ship, but it's my favorite king cake. It tastes like a donut.

GrandDad, no one is claiming B/CS is better than Athens; but for a college town of 230,000, it's a great place to visit.

People like yourself come across so ignorant.

So sensitive because you went to school or live now in statistically the worst state in the nation you have to shite on everything.

I've been to Oxford many many times and enjoyed myself. Even though the fans are obnoxious at times I would never say "Errmahgawd I could could na never go to that state!"

lol what a scrub.

I don't get that. I mean it is not just the Cafe making them in NOLA. I love Morning Call.

Its basically a sopaipilla, which are all over Texas. I have been tempted to take one and cover it in powered sugar instead of honey.
