I was so caught up in Bama-LSU since Saturday, I obviously saw where UGA beat down Missouri, but did that officially clinch the East?

Is there any scenario, longshot or otherwise, where UGA doesn’t win the East?

This, and I wouldn't even call it a longshot, although A&M at home is a likely win. Auburn is a toss up.

So I assume Florida is the only team mathematically alive?

They’d need UGA to lose both games right?

Correct, and they have to beat Mizzou, which they will.

If we win 1 more game we've clinched the east. So no not yet, but it's a near certainty we will.

Yeah I think highly highly unlikely UGA loses both of those games. Maybe one of those, but not both.

I guess crazier things have happened, but it looks like UGA-LSU in Atlanta. I hope LSU wins out and still has our “mulligan” in our pocket just in case UGA pulls the minor upset in Atlanta. My guess is LSU would be a 3-6 pt favorite over UGA, has anyone seen any way-too-early lines for that matchup?

Based on what I have seen, LSU would be a 7 point favorite and will win by more than that. But teams can have off days and good days, so you never know until the game is played.

Burrow is the best QB I have seen since Tebow. Absolutely fantastic.

It’s gonna be interesting... also possible depending on how things shake out with other teams (Oregon, OU, etc) that a UGA win over LSU pushes Bama out of the playoffs. LOL

The assumption given current teams vying for playoff would be that UGA and LSU would go in that scenario.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to an LSU game where I’d be happy with a win or loss, if that’s how it all plays out and UGA win sends UGA and LSU to playoff and Bama out.

You don’t have a mulligan... LSU needs to stop thinking that..

If you don’t win the SEC, and if any of Oregon/Baylor/Utah/OU wins their conference with 1 loss... the Tigahs ain’t going... bank on it.

The committee will not leave out a 1 loss conf champ P5 for a non conf champ... it has never happened and it’s not going to.

Possible, but all the experts that I listened to on the radio on the way home from Tuscaloosa and the talking heads on TV said LSU absolutely has a mulligan in their pocket. LSU can take on one loss, either in regular season or SECCG, but obviously can’t take 2 or would be out.

I obviously hope we don’t need it, but its pretty common knowledge that LSU can afford one loss at this point given their SOS and resume relative to other playoff contenders and the most likely scenario that there will be max 2 undefeated teams this year (OhioSt, Clemson), obviously aside from a possible undefeated LSU.

We all know Baylor won’t go undefeated.

You may very well be right in the end. But at this moment, all the experts disagree with you.

You’re forgetting LSU and Oregon in that scenario would have same record and one common opponent.

There is very little chance that Oregon or Baylor or Minnesota or OU with same record as LSU would go over LSU. Almost zero chance given same record and one team with clear and significant advantage in SOS played.

This guy is one of many “experts” that says LSU absolutely has a mulligan: CBS video

The have to win 2 of their remaining 3 SEC games. They beat Mizzou, so one remaining out of Auburn and A&M.

I know this wasn’t the point of this thread, but in case you didn’t watch the CFP show tonight, every single one of them on ESPN said 12-1 LSU would absolutely be in playoff with a loss to UGA in SECCG, no question. Like not even up for debate or worth discussing, because it would be a certainty as far as LSU is concerned.

I Knew that already - that LSU is easily in with only one loss, no doubt about it - just wanted to point out that all the “experts” absolutely disagree with your point/opinion that you made above.

It happened in 2011 under the BCS so i wouldn’t say it could never happen now. Of course, that non-conf champ would have to be Bama.

Georgia can finish no worse than 5-3 in the SEC, and South Carolina is the only Eastern team in that situation that would have a tiebreaker. Since USC is mathematically out at 3-4, this means Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt are all eliminated.

Florida can win the SEC East if Georgia loses both remaining SEC games and Florida defeats Missouri. If any one of those three remaining games break the other way, Georgia clinches the East.

If it’s a blowout loss then I’m not so sure.

Not yet we can lock it up this Saturday against Auburn. Florida is the only other team that could win it but they need us to lose to both Auburn and A&M
