Has any athletic department done less with more?

Without a doubt, Georgia might have the most resources of any SEC program to be successful in major college athletics. They have money, population, and the brand. However, they haven’t seen the success you’d think they would. It made me curious to dive into their history. Mostly looking to 1990 but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and stretched to 1980. I don’t see the need to go further back than 1980 as college athletics and the world has drastically changed since and I would consider 1980 to present to be more modern era.

Shocking to see…Since 1990: Georgia has won 1 national title and 7 SEC titles in the major 3 sports. Let’s dive deeper:

Georgia advantage:
1. Located 72 miles from Atlanta. 5.6M people, in Atlanta metro making it the 9th largest Metro in the US.
2. Atlanta = one of the Highest African American majority city in terms of population density in the US
3. Under 4 hours from Birmingham and Charlotte
4. With Fall of GT over last 20 years, UGA is only serious players within one of highest populated states in the southeast.
5. One of the richest and highest valued brands in all of college sports with value over 890M

Georgia Football:
1. 1 national title since 1980
2. 3 SEC titles since 1992
3. 6 SEC titles since 1980

Georgia Basketball:
1. 2 sweet 16s since 1980
2. Mediocre 1,434–1,319 all time record
3. 1 SEC championship since 1990
4. 1 final four and 1 elite 8 since 1980
5. Since 1980 they have finished .500 or worst 14 times

Georgia Baseball:
1. 1 title (1990)
2. 3 Confrence titles since 1990
3. 6 college World Series since 1980

Georgia might break these draughts this year. They have a fantastic football team but the fact remains they’ve been an underachieving cesspool since 1990.

Texas Longhorns.

More money, more recruting grounds, more media coverage, and worse results than UGA.

This was more taking a peep at SEC. And even so, you’re wrong as Texas has been more balanced and successfully across the 3 major sports over 30 years

To answer your question, no.

They'll be here soon to deflect from your brilliant and factual analysis.

Texas has played for at least two baseball and two football championships in the last 20 years, just off the top of my head.

That was a lot of typing just to say UGA owns Florida.

Since 1990 Georgia has 7 Confrence titles in the big 3 while UF has 6 national titles in the big 3. Food for thought
