Has a program with LSU's talent level ever finished .500 or worse in back to back seasons?

I genuinely can't come up with one, at least not based on aggregate recruiting success.

In conference play?

Yeah, it happens all the time.

Florida state after Jimbo left.

A&M fans will say it was because Jimbo was such a great coach. Non-A&M fans will say it was because he left the program in disarray.

With legit top-5 talent?

The closest I can find is Texas in 2010-2011, but they were already past Mack Brown's 2000-2006 recruiting heyday at that point.

There was a rash of transfers after Jimbo left and there wasnt a single scholarship OL who made it to the NFL from 2017-2019 I dont think.

Impossible to consider them having top-5 talent

Florida State did it in 2017, 2018, and 2019 with a 247 Team Talent Composite ranking of #4, #5, and #6 respectively.

You’d think you’d do a second of research on your coach before self-owning with this post.

Hmmmm Strong brought in talent but I think he would've killed for the talent Ed O has now. Heard and Buechele was his QBs. Buechele might be comparable to Johnson but LSUs WRs arent comparable to what Texas had. Texas had Burt.....and that's it lol. Defense wise I don't think it's really close either Texas had Jefferson that I can really recall. You got Stingly and Rick's on this defense.

Kinda close but not really. Texas roster management 2010 Mack up until he left was garbage. Really have the middle finger as he went out
