When the Italians fired Mussolini, he hung around for a bit.

Not this early into the season. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of such a scenario to be honest. I know coaches who have announced retirement this early into the season, but not just getting fired.

When Ole Miss fired Houston Nutt, he was allowed to finish out the season. The result was the players not pretty much gave up, but they quit caring completely and stopped going to class. Recruiting took a huge nosedive as well. It was later in the season, however, when Nutt was fired (November).

Sweet, yet another Ed thread from a gump. Y'all must be going for a record since RTWFU triggered you.

Two years and a natty later and y'all still can't wash the taste out of your mouths.

You fired your coach 1 yr removed from a natty mid-season, but don't want anyone to talk about it?

It guarantees a response from multiple LSU posters.

We’re the ones that feel bad for 0.

Rumlin was a deadman walking after pimpstick (blowing a 28-point halftime lead to UCLA in the 2017 season opener). Everybody knew he was fired, including him.

But, other than Houston Nutt, I don't know of any other coach who was fired but yet until the end of the season.

Nobody is triggered by 2019 when it was outdone the following year. Basically, your “bEsT sEaSoN eVeR” is irrelevant.

It’s more entertaining to watch your fan base suffer and burn your program to the ground after such a “historic” season. We’re here to mine the salt from your delicious tigah tears.

Oh, and we comin 11/27 bitch.

Curry was canned on 10/21/96, which technically means he outlasted Eaux by 4 days. His dismissal came somewhat ironically in the aftermath of a loss to LSU in Red Stick, UK’s 8th straight SEC defeat stretching back to the previous season. Like with Eaux this year, it came after game 7 on the year, but the loss dropped Curry’s team to 1-6 on the year.

The Kats responded positively to having a lame duck, upsetting UGa the following week and winning their next two before falling to UTee to finish 4-7.

Of course the big difference was that Curry was only paid his couple of hundred thousand salary through the end of the year, in comparison to the $18-20 million the Rosy Finch Boyz will squeeze out of Woodward & Co between now and 2025 or so…

I still can't believe Bama hired Bill over Coach Bowden. Bama needed a football coach and not a Sales Manager.

F you Joab Thomas and your azzhats that made that call.

Nutt had given up on that job way before being fired. I'm not even really sure he ever did much in the way of recruiting; just ran out the string on Orgeron's players.

I can remember some November hang arounds, but not any mid-October hang arounds. Randy Edsall tried this earlier this season at UConn, but didn't make it to Monday afternoon.

I think this was similar to when Ty was fired at University of Washington. I think he was 0-7 when he was fired, I think Woodward may have been the AD. They negotiated a buyout and Willingham was allowed to finish out the team.

re: Has a fired coach ever hung around for the rest of the season?
LSU's '19 season is the greatest season in college football. ONLY team ever to post SEVEN wins VS top 10 opponents. Nuff said.

All you have to do is go look at '20 final rankings to know something was off that year. Check out some of those names in top 10. Then check out rest of top 25. Something was really fricked up. One P5 conference changed it's rules during the season to make sure a certain team made it to the CCG. Then hopefully onto the playoffs.

So, NO anything dealing with the '20 season has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Ron Zook did (except for the bowl game). Even got FSU's stadium named after him.
