Happy 4th! I know Veterans Day is for this but I think the 4th is too. I am in a patriotic mood and thinking about these great folks. Name your noble and great "All Americans" from your family so we can appreciate them.

Coy Davis: Purple Heart in Pearl Harbor and another in island hopping campaign in the Pacific. Frog man before Seals and ran operations in Bay of Pigs/Cuba.

Henry Lester Harlow: Infantry WWII France mortar team. Once said, "Saw these Germans over there by the wall....we fired our mortar at 'em and there was nothin' left but smoke."

R.J. Posey: Iwo Jima. Didn't talk about it.

One more that's fuzzy from my mother's side I have had mentioned to me when I was a kid but I am compelled to mention. Thigpen or Smith was his last name. Bomber pilot over Germany that got hit and piloted his bomber right into the face of the enemy crashing.

Grandfather on my wife's side landed at Iwo Jima and was shipped back a few days later.

Grandfather on my side landed at Utah. He lived to teach me how to catch my first fish.

My WWII/Korea generation family tree's faces are all over the VFW halls on the Westbank. Lots of Vietnam vet uncles, a few cousins did Afgan & Iraq, others did various things. Seriously, y'all ain't got time for the litany of my veteran kin.
