And suddenly everyone thinks we're about to waltz up into a Happy Valley Whiteout with his players and win.

Could happen, but wouldn't bank on it like some are.

I don't think everyone or even a majority think that.

Well, I don't think this is true at all, but is Gus still wearing his orange and blue sweater vest on the AU sidelines?

No?

Then this thread is pointless.

Your user name explains your pessimism better than Gus's away record.

I watched pretty much all of the PSU/Wisconsin game. Barring injury, your DL is going to get the push they need to keep Clifford uncomfortable. Your DBs are athletic enough to cover their receivers. Wisconsin's DBs were asleep on 3 plays that accounted for 48% of Penn State's total yardage (and those plays led to 13 of Penn State's 16 points in that game).

With that said, Penn State has a good front 7 as well. Auburn's experienced OL might be better but no one knows that after playing Akron and ALST.

If Auburn's DBs keep the PSU receivers not just in front of them but stay in position close enough to make a play on a ball, this might be an old school 10-7 type of game.

What was interesting was that I heard Franklin talking about how they aren't sure what film to study because of the new Auburn staff coming from so many different places.

They do? Auburn has played nobody. Peen St. already won on the road vs a top 5 defense. Lions by a TD

Gus made million with those 3 wins over Nick. Millions.

I can see him now driving down I-75 with the top down on his BMW with money flying out all the way to Orlando.

Gus...."Kristy, please don't smoke in the car"

Thats what he said. What he meant was they aren't sure what film to study because Auburn was 100% man coverage on D and heavy TE on O in game one, and game 2 was 100% zone and no TE targets.

I caught that too. Paranoid Gus surrounded himself with yes-men high school buddies his entire tenure at AU. Harsin has atleast hired proven coordinators/HC’s with their own ideas.

Not saying we win, but this team is much different than Gus and is 5-play playbook. I’ll never forget 2018 when Pruitt and Tennessee were yelling out to their defense exactly where the ball was going before we even snapped the ball. It had gotten that bad and predictable.

Not sure where you're getting this from because Auburn definitely played some man on defense last week and Shenker (a TE) had a reception and Fromm (another TE) was targeted.

When Harsin was hired he said he didn't have a "base" offensive philosophy, but that they would study the tendencies of opposing defenses and gameplay off of that. It's such a refreshing change in approach from Gus, who would bang his head against the wall. He never seemed to change his gameplay and was atrocious at in game adjustments. See the '17 or '18 LSU game where he had a lead and went something like 16 straight first downs with run between the tackles. Absolutely infuriating.

Mason sort of has the same approach as Harsin from what we've heard. His base D is a 3-4, but he runs "hybrid" fronts for the most part. It's all just based on the opponents tendencies and adjust from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see Auburn in some Bear or 50 fronts to start out against Penn St. They'll almost certainly be trying to make Clifford make plays throwing the ball. Can't let them establish a run game.

Should’ve fired him after that game. He would’ve been if not for the buyout.
