Gus ain’t a bad coach! Give him a raise!

Chizik goes on to say...
quote:

“But the people at Auburn have a knee jerk reaction or at least in the past they have, because of what’s going on across the state. And it’s never gonna change.”

quote:

“... Because all of the things outside of that that are negative, do not help whoever the head coach is be successful. Former players that want to go out and trash the coach, that doesn’t help the institution. Everybody on a national perspective looks at Auburn, ‘Yeah, they won seven games, OK? They got beat bad by Alabama like everybody else did.’ Instead of cutting the head off of a $49-million guy, lets rally the troops behind the scenes and say, ‘Guess what guys, all you power brokers, let’s get to the man and figure out what we can do to help him win, not figure out what we can do to cut his head off.’”

quote:

“... You can’t tell me Gus is a bad coach.”

Come on...Gus isn’t a bad coach auburn. Give him another extension. Auburn is a shite show.

The state school with the largest endowment and budget will make it. I just know it.

Just give Gus a chance to bring in his own players. Auburn is too quick to fire head coaches.

Gene Chizik is an Auburn Man. That can’t be debated. He loves Auburn even after he delivered a National Championship and they fired him.

You're making a mistake in underestimating the cow college. They have money and they will spend every dime in order to stick close to the Nick Saban Express. Tommy was on Jox today and he blasted the YellaFella Cabal as well.

Hard not to argue that Auburn is a mess. When Jimmy Sexton talked to them about how Gus had this possible contract with Arkansas, they should have politely walked him out the door and let Gus go.

Agreed. GusShortBus would've been loved at Arkansas. His arse will not be gone soon enough. And mediocre coaches like Tubs and Chizik can welcome to the unemployment family

Bama did the same thing before Saban. They were going through coaches left and right.

Well losing every game in conference play, barely winning out of conference games, and getting blown out will cause that to happen.

You forget all the off the field issues that were happening as well

Yeah why don’t we go back to Tiny Tot and get his opinion too.

Then we would have received opinions on Auburn from all three of the Trifecta of Failure, the Triplets of Terrible, each and every one who almost brought the program to its knees.

Just STFU and spend all that money y’all never earned, Tommy Ducks and Saint Gene.

Do not forget the highly transfer quarterback picked Odom over Gus is the turning point for Auburn and Missouri. Missouri is getting better and Auburn is getting worst!

The question is not whether or not Gus is a "bad coach," Gene. The question is whether he is good enough for Auburn. Auburn, regardless of its lack of national titles, absolutely demands the best. It's not easy to be in the state of Alabama for either program. So, if Gus were a "bad" coach, sure he'd be gone. Gene's right, he's not bad. He's just plainly not good enough, and that's that.

Coaching isn't just X's and O's, or game-day strategy.

Terry Bowden on how it works down that Cow Town...his words not mine.

Here is how it works: Fifty to 60 men give $5,000 per year. Wayne would collect it. These are all good men. They didn't ask questions. The coach tells them that everybody cheats so we have to. My first two years we went 11-0 and 9-0-1. My third year, (assistants Jimbo) Fisher and (Rick) Trickett said, "Hall is on the phone a lot with Lowder." I thought he was going back to cheating. I told Hall that when the season was over he needed to move on. I told Garner that I was taking him off coaching for a year. That was the beginning of the end for me.

Jimmy Rane was in on all of this. He is high maintenance. Three current Board of Trustees members gave cash to players - Rane, Spina and McWhorter. Jimmy is a wannabe, a jock sniffer, a loose cannon. He wants to be involved in everything.

Ol Tot learned everything he knew about running a clean program from his Diddy, that expert of crystal clean programs.

Both of those superlatives belong to other schools in the state.

Yea, i'd say Auburn fans don't have that much of a knee jerk reaction, not anymore than any other fanbase that has expectations of at least competing year in and year out. That's what, three years starting the season preseason top 10 and finishing with at least 5 losses?

It warms my heart to see Nick beating that inferiority complex into a new generation of Auburn fans. Just like Bear did to their daddy’s and their daddy’s daddy

An endorsement from Gene Chizik = Kiss of Death

I appreciate all that Chiz did at AU as the DC (2004 undefeated season) and the natty as HC, but he seems a little bitter about his departure from AU and the power brokers that made it happen.

2012 was a complete disaster at Auburn, on the football field and off the field. Not many coaches would have stayed employed through that mess.

I mean, I don't think it's fair to say he's an outright BAD coach.
