You really don't pay attention to prep football do you? They are far from an awful program and the most wins in that region. And have made the playoffs 7 straight times.

Making the playoffs is far from the measuring stick in HS football. As long as your top four in the region you can be 3-7 and in the playoffs.

6A, region 4 is also very weak to begin with. The four Tuscaloosa schools (Bryant, Northridge, Brookwood and Hillcrest) are rarely any good or ranked in the top 10. There's no reason the three Birmingham schools (Bessemer City, Hueytown and McAdory) shouldn't make the playoffs every year. They're more talented, by far.

As a player, he simply never got better after his freshman season, had tons of potential though. Just didnt have that internal clock of when to get rid of the ball. The team responded more when Tyler watts came in. They played harder with watts because he was a turnover machine. Watts biggest problem was he played too hard and injuries himself fighting for extra yardage after first contact. Zow had way more arm talent though.

Don’t want to speculate on something several states away but I will say this. After many years in teaching and coaching and now in administration I have learned no matter how much you win the principal of a school can make or break your job. If the administration is not on the same page with you life can be miserable. Five coaches in five years sounds like an underlying problem.

Y'all ought to pay attention to what's going on in Titletown, USA, aka Valdosta, GA.

Coach got fired over the objections of his administration by the school board. Zero disciplinary incidents on his record. Zero negative performance evaluations. Four playoff appearances in four years including a state title. The vote to fire the white coach was 5-4; 5 black board members voted to oust him and 4 white members voted to keep him.

And BTW, the school principal and superintendent who wanted to keep him? Both African-American.

Are you talking about Lowndes?

If so they stole Jamey DuBose from Central-Phenix City. Dude has won big every where he's been.

You sir are correct. The last 5 coaching staffs were all probably robbed at the school by their own players.

BCHS administration is incompetent and cheap. Zow deserves more but the AD didn’t entertain that. Plus, the old superintendent resigned and they have a new one now. Problems everywhere!

Yeah it’s tough. The best years I had as both was when the principal, superintendent and school board didn’t have an agenda. Too many times someone had an agenda different than mine. Had a perfect situation one time where I had all my players in last block weightlifting. District made a change to the academic schedule and ruined it. Nothing I could do. I am in a unique position than some administrators because I have walked in my coaches shoes so that helps.

And the end of the day it’s the kiddo’s that suffer because adults have hidden or different agendas and can’t get on the same page. Too many people in the education business be it a teacher, coach or administrative position need to remember we get a check to help young people reach THEIR goals. Not OURS.

Sorry for that ramble. Thanks for letting me take part of the conversation.
