Why does everyone keep talking like this is going to happen one day out there in the future? It already happened right in front of your eyes.

Recruiting is already pay for play. Conferences already exist and schedules made for TV contracts. The portal is already unrestricted FA. And coaches are already making 8 figures.

At the highest level, what’s left that is “college” about it?

That’s what I’m saying. The SEC just gave a giant middle finger to tradition and their fans so they could gain more leverage with Disney. That’s 100% pro football shite. The only difference are the logos.

Who among you will actually stand with me and stop funding this nonsense until changes are made?

I gave up my season tickets last year. I had them for almost 25 years.

I will. Passed on tickets. May cut ESPN too to try and get at the root.

It’s already here. I guess the only argument is that it’s not completely ruined. I’m old school. I like my bowls on New Years Day. I was ok with a singular title game and no CFP. I was ok with the BCS. Hell, I was ok with a split champ. I thought it was important to have the sport relevant in all corners of the country. I was fine with the Rose Bowl being stubborn and holding onto traditional values. I could appreciate the FCS and D2 playoffs without craving it for the FBS.

There is a sector of fans on here that thought expansion was so cool in 2012, and still want it now. It’s like they are playing a live game of Risk. They thought the cash intake was some sort of symbol of good football on the field. Those fans will still chant “SEC, it just means more” when Iowa State becomes the 32nd member in 2031 and dominates NCAA wrestling.

This shite is tiresome. Conference expansion talk ceased being cool a long time ago. Teams with some sack would schedule juicy NC matchups and didn’t need fake rivalry trophies to be created for a divisional battle.

Exactly, we have the power to stop this. You just have to be willing to sacrifice and play the long game

It's happening as we speak. The only reason we aren't going to 9 games next year is ESPN wouldn't pony up for the extra game. It's always about the money.

I'll tell you what pissed me off. When a coach at a major program said, "The first thing kids ask is what NIL program we can offer, which I can't talk about. The second thing is how they will be highlighted in the schemes we run. Few even ask about winning anymore."

That's when I asked, why am I supporting this?

Right here. I’ve only ever bought single tickets and haven’t bought one of those in probably 8 years.

College basketball was at this point before football.

I watch because I bleed P and G. I guess that means I’m part of the problem. With that said:

Our society is fricked up. The world is fricked up. Some people want to defund the police. Our first responders don’t get paid dick. Schools aren’t adequately funded. The list is endless. Our priorities are so skewed that coaches making millions, and now kids in the mid teens make millions, and it’s okay because capitalism. All that does is show me how out of whack the priorities of this nation/world truly are.

Edit: I can’t blame the athletes. Hell, most of them are poor anyway. It’s not their fault. It’s the values of the people that are at fault.

Yet many of those kids have no real connection to where they signed. They’re looking for a better spot before the ink dries. Some teams turned over half their roster this year.

Absolutely true. Not like the old days where kids grew up dreaming about playing for a school. There's almost no loyalty now.

Before scholarship restrictions the biggest and richest teams stockpiled the best players whether they were going to play them or not in order to keep them from playing for other teams. texas was one of them.

Now there is an opportunity for the other teams to get some of these players and the players will have an opportunity to play and have a chance at the next level.

I’m going to pull for my team as always and enjoy the season as always and move on to the next sport.
