Q: A lot has been made of what's going on at LSU. Talk about whether you feel like they are deserving of being SEC Champions?

WILLIAMS: Definitely. They're a great team. I think they're a little underrated because I don't really think people know how good they are across the country. They're extremely talented. Their bigs are extremely athletic. Kavell's a great player. I know him a little bit. We played him my freshman year in Maui when he was at Oregon and he's continued to improve. They have great length. You have to fight on the boards against them as much as anybody. They have a great freshman class and Skylar (Mays) steadies the ship for them and provides leadership. Tremont didn't even play against us and he's as tough as any point guard in the country.

We have several goals that we set as a team and winning the SEC was obviously a big one but we didn't earn it and they did. They executed down the stretch better than us in a lot of games this year and that's something we'll have to learn from starting tournament time here because everything else is still in front of us. It can be a great lesson if we're willing to get better from it. We had chances to win (the SEC) again but we didn't take it and they did. I hope we get a chance to play them again in Nashville but they are very deserving of winning the league. I think they'll be one of the toughest teams for anybody to play here in March.

That is an incredibly classy response from an obviously very mature young man.

Obviously the question was very baiting. Trying to get him to shite on Wade. I think it's an impressive/classy answer. Reads like a veteran coach.

I'm assuming that was in reference to people accusing him of flopping.

Is calling him "flop" and a dirty player trashing him?
Not sure if LSU fans but a few in a thread just recently did.

I do think it's a great quote and a perfect response to a baited question.

I think more credit probably goes to the coaching staff who prepared these guys for those types of questions - always best to take the high road.

But you knew they weren't going to give away any bulletin board material going into the tourney.

Barnes his staff and the team are all class unlike some other teams that I won't even mention.

Grant Williams is a savvy veteran. It can be frustrating when he plays against your team and he embellishes contact at times, but he's trying to get calls and help his team win. Tremont does the same thing too, so I think any LSU fan trying to vilify Grant is way off base. It's just part of the game.

They're both great players and seem like great guys, too. Williams will be a very deserving Player of the Year.

I've lost any respect I ever had for Penny after his dumbass comments and subsequent double-down and triple-down

Grant Williams should've been ejected for targeting in the LSU game

Tremont absolutely does the little head bob maneuver in traffic and he also cuts in front of defenders when he's dribbling in the open court to draw contact. He uses his lack of size to draw fouls all the time. I can only imagine how frustrating that is to opposing players and fans. Of course as an LSU fan I love it. I think Grant Williams is an amazing player and I really enjoy watching him play.
