Come on, does anyone really believe he's got a concussion and Napier isn't just desperately trying to save his job by running his shiny new QB out?

Why would he need to fake an injury to play someone else, especially after an embarrassing L?

Mertz was pretty good last year, he's not the problem.

We can't win much with Mertz as he is very limited. All he did last year was throw 2 yard checkdowns on 3rd and 6+ to get his completion %.

He got absolutely wrecked in that Miami game.

He wasn't very good but that whole team is dog shite.

Why does Napier insist on playing those morbidly obese defensive tackles? Seems like those guys never make a tackle, and the defense is slower and basically playing 9 against 11.

Watson actually graded out as the best D lineman for us that game. We don't have any DE or Jack good at getting pressure since Princely left for Ole Miss though.

I don't know. The vaunted LSU defense last year had Mertz looking like a 2nd round pick.

He looked decent last year but we had pass protection and senior receivers.

What good would that do? Bringing out Napier’s “shiny new” recruit without any support around him? Are you this obtuse on purpose?

I'll bet you Kiffin could make Mertz productive.

Not saying much there, just about every OC could make him more productive than SBB.

He was really injured on Saturday, how long he remains concussed will depend on how Lagway plays this Saturday.

Yes I believe he actually got a concussion. His offensive line tried to kill that man week 1

Seriously. A QB Change mid season would have given the fans something to look forward to and an excuse. Going to your back up feel good plan this early likely isn't what Billy was looking for.

Honestly Mertz wasn't even that bad aside from the constant check downs.
