re: Good to see Arkansas back to its rightful place on the SECR

Posts like this make me laugh. We haven’t been relevant since petrino got beat up by that swim coach . We were getting curb stomped by teams like Toledo, western Kentucky, ulm, Missouri, San Jose state, Colorado state, and north Texas Just a few years ago. I was honestly afraid to play Arkansas state and UCA.

Yes, we are on the rise and should have a good year but man, let’s at least finally beat Auburn before we shoot our shot.

Define a good year?

Even 2014-2016 Arkansas football was pretty damn good.

West was stacked and you had two 7-6 years and a 8-5 year. Post 2016……. Different story.

7-6, 8-5 and 7-6 aren't considered good years when Bert lost multiple games in 2014 that should have been wins. Arkansas had a top 10 defense but went 6-6. Arkansas was loaded in 2015 but lost to Toledo 16-12 and Arkansas had the superior stats except the score. Arkansas lost another winnable game in Texas Tech. Lost a close one in the A&M game. In the Mississippi state game Instead of letting Brandon Allen win the game with fourth and short, he went with a field goal that was blocked and lost 51-50. Arkansas had a 7-0 lead on Bama going into the fourth quarter but lost 27-14. Bert was good late in the 2016 season going 7-4 but lost to Missouri after blowing a 24-0 lead. Arkansas would do the same exact score against Virginia Tech but scored 35 unanswered points to make the final score 35-24. It should haven been a 9-4 season but instead Arkansas fans began to turn on him and he would regress the next year which led to his termination.

2020: 3-7 (first year post Morris, and you only barely got us.)
2019: 2-10 (Morris fired)
2018: 2-10 (Morris era began)
2017: 4-8 (Bert fired)
2016: 7-6 (3-5 in conference)
2015: 8-5 ( Bert’s best team. You didn’t beat us. )
2014: 7-6 (y’all were a decent team back then. We weren’t. Finished 2-6 in conference.)


So when did you beat us when we were good?

Oh, I guess you’re referring to that cotton bowl debacle post Houston nutt when we had an interim and our game plan was party the night away the night before. I’m this game, we attempted a fake punt but Mizzou called timeout. We came back out and ran the same dang fake punt. That’s what our coaching amounted to in that game.

So yes, that was by far the best team you beat, and you hang your hat on it for 15 years . But given the circumstances surrounding that game and the shape of the program at that point, I’m not shocked you blew our doors off.

But I hope you’ve enjoyed the success and took a picture of the scoreboard during that 50-48 win because, friend, you won’t see a victory in this series for a good long while.

That Cotton Bowl game was a stark contrast to the night game in Baton Rouge. The team heard about that Nutt could be gone and played the best game all year. Nutt and McFadden hugged on TV. When Nutt was fired, the team got upset and played like arse in the bowl game. Not surprised as the team was very emotional and played hard for Nutt. So it was no shock that Missouri destroyed Arkansas.
