You guys scared the hell out of me in the bottom of last inning. I had this “we are gonna blow it” mindset until the final out.

You have a very good program and to get a series win on the road was big for MSU.

Seven inning games suck. Evidenced by both games today. But glad we managed 2/3

I’ll take 2/3 on the road anyday! Win the series against OM and we should have a national seed locked up

I expected nothing different under Childress. This is the time of year that A&M begins to fall apart, starting last week with Ole Miss. Still, it is hard to take a series on the road in the SEC

Good for MSU, who can actually compete with the elite of the SEC

With all the crappy weather predictions (and fri night there were a lot of storms at least here), today was a great day for baseball.

Good series and +1 for 7 inning games suck.

Agree that the 7 inning games suck.

Don’t understand the rationale for them. Classes are finished so school is not an issue. The players are in excellent physical shape so playing two games in one day is really not an issue. Why not move the start time up for the first game if they are that concerned about travel time.

Years ago, that was the standard weekend series. Two 7 inning games on Saturday and one 9 inning game on Sunday. The current format started around the early 90’s I think.

A&M has an excellent team. Tremendous weekend series win for State. But no quit in the Aggies today. Great pitching by both squads. My kind of baseball. I love a great pitching duel and the first game was awesome even if we lost it.

It was what I expected, a close series. Lot of people on here give aggies grief but you’ve always had a solid baseball program and since joining the conference, made it even stronger. It’s by far the best baseball conference in the nation and second top to bottom ain’t even close.

What is the reason for not playing Sunday games? Weren’t we playing on Sunday earlier in the season?

Several other SEC schools are..

Something about if you start a series on a certain day, the series cannot be extended past day three. In other words, if it’s a Thursday-Saturday series, you can only play games on those three days.

I can understand finishing the series (Thursday-Saturday——Friday-Sunday)
on a schedule of three days.

But it is stupid to play two 7 inning games. This is not Jr. High Baseball.

Yesterday, they could have started about 1P and played two nine inning games. Just not fair to either team.

New AD's first job should be to find a baseball Coach.

We've needed to fire our hitting coach for YEARS (Will Bolt).

He's the primary (if not the only) reason that our hitters regress from freshman year to junior year (see Shewmake, Braden as an example).

For you maybe. Finals don't end until Wednesday of this week at A&M.

Let me rephrase that. Even earlier in the season, on a Saturday or Sunday, they can start a DH at 12 Noon and play two 9 inning games. The players are already used to doing school work on the road so that is not a big deal.

It does not happen a lot but if weather affects the weekend, they still need to play 9 inning games. It is not that hard to make it work.
