Too many Aggies’ alumni have an entitlement problem, thinking that if you throw enough money to become an elite program, A&M will magically become a consistent SEC contender.

This is their problem

Mullen provided a perfect reminder this week of the massive challenge Fisher took on when he bolted Tallahassee for the rigors of the SEC West division. Mullen lived that life for nine seasons (2009-17) as head coach at Mississipi State, and his second year (2012), where he went 9-4 overall and 4-4 in league play, illustrated the wall-banging experience that awaited him.

Did that site furlough their editors? Mullen's second year at MSU was, obviously, 2010

Love this Quote from Mullen while at Moo state
quote:

“We had a great year,” said Mullen. “We beat Florida. We beat Georgia. We beat Michigan in a bowl game. And we finished ranked 15th in the nation and finished fifth in the [SEC] West.”

I think Jimbo thought that he could become 2nd dog to saban at bama. I mean he was hired right after LSU had just got Ed O, Auburn was not happy with Gus , ole miss was on the decline , ark was a dumpster fire and mo state was avg as usual. Well thats not the case anymore. Could be a long tough ride for Jimbo over the next few years. This was suppose to be the year.

Jimbo’s ego got the better of him. He went for the money, thinking he would beat LSU and everyone but Saban in the West. Unfortunately , he did not look at the historical success of the programs and the basis for that success. Two different coaches won NC’s at LSU before the Jimbo/O hires. Both built those championships on recruiting. The simple fact is that LSU does not compete with any other state school for talent and Louisiana produces top 2 per capita talent in the country. If you recruit well, you can be a half assed coach like Les and win. If you recruit well and are a good coach like NS, you can dominate. T A&M competes with more than 5 D 1 instate schools for talent and LSU in the Dallas/Houston areas. It has not been won a NC in over 50 years and really had little real success since 2000. Only his ego could convince him that he could get all of the recruits he wanted AND out coach the entire SEC West. It was truly an ego driven move and a dumb one if you want to succeed. Now, if all you care about is money.......then it was a very smart move.

Jimbo isn't going to make aggy a big winner.

He'll be gone in three years.

There is some kind of mental trauma at that school that runs real deep.

They even have a name for it. BAS. Battered Aggy Syndrome.

But hey, I'm glad they are in the SEC. Gives LSU a better recruiting entree into Texas.

While I don't disagree with a lot of this sentence, what are they really supposed to do? "Hey, I know we have all this money, but we've never been good, so I guess we'll just accept being an afterthought and spend the money on the softball team instead."

The Jimbo contract was laughably bad when it happened though. A&M fans really thought Texas fans were jealous when we were actually just laughing that they hired a 2010 Mack Brown and let the guy pull their pants down in the negotiation process.

And this guy is guaranteed for 7 seasons after this.

It's the mentality that they could just buy a championship bc Jimbo had a ring. If you looked closer, you could see things were on the brink at FSU; he finished 5-6 in 2016 ffs

He went for the money, nothing wrong with that. He really wasn’t chasing championships, A&M is the last place to go if that is what he really wanted.

When does a legit hot seat situation happen?

Can it even happen with that contract?

To you dumbasses reading some POS newspaper in the fine city of Jacksonville understand that Jimbo doesn't even have a seat yet that could get hot.
He has two classes that are his and the second one didn't even have a spring.

Would either have been even half as successful at A&M as they were/have been at LSU? Serious question for neutrals.

Nobody had a spring

Historically if you don’t start winning big by year 3, it’s probably not going to happen

Dabo didn't get a double digit win season until year 4. Saban went 7-5 and 6-6 in his 3rd and 4th year at MSU.

Texas A&M is not a blue blood with a legacy of great football.

Stay safe in the storm and take some time to improve your football knowledge.
