That was brilliant imo. Not going to lie, I was shocked to see it. It's a definite change of pace from LSU coaches in the past.

That play was very similar to Clemson doing to us in 2016. And looked like what A&M tried to execute against us. Very difficult to stop when done correctly. LSU pulled it off to perfection.

Reminded of the days when there was no overtime and a team that had just potentially tied it would go for the win. That to me is winning football. And thus a brilliant and very gutsy move on Kelly's part.

It’s been mentioned but it was what Auburn and Harsin should’ve done in the first OT last year.

Even Kelly admitted it was the same play that got flagged in 2014 when ND played Florida State. It was a ballsy call and it worked.

His explanation was also very respectful in the post-game presser.

"Before the game started if you were given ONE play to beat Alabama, I'd take it 10 out of 10 times!"
And, he did.

What did it get flagged for in 2014?

Yep, even after the time out the defense still was running players on and off last second.

No doubt. Seems like they schemed for a different play. Hard to call the perfect defense in that spot.

OPI

But it wasn't the exact same play, and in that game the receivers looked like they were actually blocking during the pass instead of just trying to screen.

It was but without the pick. The Bama LB is in man and just loses a step working his way through the WRs/DBs.

Clemson’s was a legit offensive PI.

The scary part about the call is if the defensive coverage is a zone under, the outside CB would be crashing hard on the TE as he runs out to the flats and it’s probably not successful.

Brian Kelly says LSU’s 2-point try was the same play that Notre Dame ran on a fourth and goal against FSU in 2014. On that play, refs flagged the Irish for OPI and they lost. Says Kelly to @SInow: “It was the exact same play. But I knew we weren’t gonna get called for a pick.”

Just look at the two plays, they're similar but not the exact same. Last night the TE went motion left and then reversed back.

Yea, it’s the same concept out of a different formation. Only difference is lsu WRs didn’t obviously block before the ball was thrown lol

I think Bama would have definitely won had it gone into a multiple OT scenario. You guys have more depth and more weapons on offense.

What he said in the locker room was a little different. He didn't want to take a chance on someone else taking the win away...the refs!

Genius because it worked. LSU fans would have eviscerated him if it didn't.

Why is making the correct decision genius? Are we really attributing genius to that decision? It was obvious he should try to win there.
