Go Big Orange: A decade of dominance

It hasn't been the greatest decade in Big Orange football history, but that's okay, because no matter how many times Tennessee loses to Vanderbilt, there's always 1998. Never forget, gosh dammit!!! Al, Raynoch, the whole squad. The Red Rooster was Florida State's quarterback. Peerless Price caught that pass. Never let it go. It doesn't matter that half of the the goobers on Tennessee's current roster weren't yet born in 1998. It'd be about like Georgia fans still bragging about the 1980 national championship in 2001 and still clinging to 1980 in the 21st century, which i promise you didn't happen. Dawg fans weren't still using 1980 as ammo in 2001, I promise. That would've just been weird, like Tennessee still remembering 1998 as if it was 18 months ago.

I really miss the Ole Miss / UT rivalry. It went away in 92 when we split into divisions but we've played UT more than most schools. Only Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Alabama have played them more.

Georgia and Florida have more natural deep rivalries than any team in in the country due to their acc end year rivals.

Uga would take #1 if they scheduled Clemson as the first game every year.
Addition: Uga / Clemson is the best rivalry that isn’t a sure thing that they play every year.
There is a way to make it happen though. I will save that for another thread though.

that is one of the most intelligent posts i've seen on this board . clemson and uga needs to play every year. heck, ga.tech and scar is a more competitive match-up than uga/ga.tech or clemson/scar. the a.d.'s need to make that happen. the tv ratings would show it, at least in the southeast.

7-29 against those 4 opponents in 9 years. Goodness. Now it just feels mean to talk smack.

I actually agree. Just because UGA and UT are in the same division, it doesn't make them rivals. The game is important for recruiting purposes since UT needs GA recruits to be successful and it also effects the SECE race, but I don't view UT as a rival. UGA's rivals are Auburn, UF, and GT. UGA doesn't play clemson enough any more for them to be considered one.

There is a way.
Of all the non perrenial rivalries:
Texas a&m vs Texas
Florida vs Miami
Oklahoma vs Colorado or Nebraska
Pitt vs Penn State
.....UGA /Clemson is far and away, the best and most competitive.
The Peach Bowl should be allowed to have Georgia &Clemson play each other as a perennial bowl game.....regardless of record, save the playoff. If either/or is in playoff, the deal is off for that year.
But think about a (hard to think this will happen) a 5-6 Clemson having to get the ast USC to get to the Peach to play a l, say 10-2 playoff-missing UGa. Clem would love nothing more than a chance to take uga down as if it was a mid-season game. Uga could blast Clem for a full year for not being able to even play them in the bowl....or vice versa.
I would prefer to watch the Peach over 90% of the other bowls. In fact, I’ve already forgotten who played it this year.
But a uga / Clem Peach would sell out every year regardless of record. And it would be one of the best near-guaranteed rivalries in the south-or the country. It would guarantee way better tv money than va tech vs aTm or NC state vs Tennessee.

They went an entire decade without even winning a share of the East.

It stopped when the SEC added another conference game in the spring 87 meeting. Same reason we stopped playing Miami annually. I know we voted against adding it, not sure about Georgia.
